yes, i was going to say let the young ones sneak in as with the fear of being caught (i presume) they may act a little more appropriately. perhaps they should do away with age verfication and instead administer a series of small tests for moronity.
i find the constant talking over music and general tomfoolery of my fellow gig goers irritating enough without having to contend with masses of teenagers. perhaps i have morphed into a bitter killjoy but the thought of my favourite venues resembling manners mall on any given night makes a move to the suburbs slightly more appealing.
would the solution not be to have more underage gigs? but the money for the venue comes from the bar, does it not? so i am unsure what the motivation would be. goodness of the heart doesn't seem to get much of an outing.
Yeah, I noted that as well. I wonder why people would watch a band they didn't like - especially given the tight timeslots. Perhaps the thread should have been called "BDO acts that dissapointed me" rather than those that were shit? Or perhaps I was just lucky and the BDO was full of bands that I really wanted to see.
sorry heather, didn't intend to single you out like that. the flaming lips were great though. perhaps you were the girl near me who groaned when the eyeball came on. the slowed down aerobics... brilliant.
firstly, i disagree with heather. i thought the flaming lips were the perfect end to the day. they were brilliant. wayne coyne and all his animals were more than i could have hoped for and had my toes a-tapping and a silly smile plastered across my face. i loved the 'don't snort your brain' publice service announcement and the cover of 'seven nation army', not to forget yoshimi and the song about a fibre-optic jesus whose title is slightly too long for me to get right.
i was more bemused by the dandy warhols than annoyed. mr ctt was completely gone. he could barely manage a slur – but managed to champion the quality of nz weed. they only played five songs (if my memory serves me correctly) and the bass was so extreme it may have reshuffled some of my internal organs. they weren't not into it, they were just temporarily incapacitated. brilliant. they also stuffed up the timing of the main stages. it just what i would have expected from them. in hindsight i would have stayed watching the kings of leon but i don’t feel cheated by it.
i didn't see many bands i could label as shit simply because i think they are shit and would not waste a timeslot on them. i had an excellent bdo. i saw everyone i intended to and was impressed with the performances with all but the dandys. i don't see much point in saying that bands were shit if that is your opinion of their music anyway. i endured three muse songs before i managed to flee the area so i could say they were the shitest but i would declare that if i was forced to listen to their cd or watch them live so it is fairly redundant. i didn’t think that any band i wanted to see was shit. i loved it.
any idea of what time hsm will play this eve? i don't want to specifically avoid the other bands but one must be home in time for a respectable friday at work. snore...
