Flourish and Decay~ Trasch
Into the void~ Into the void
Songs of the estranged~ Flesh-d-vice

AK79 is brilliant, for newish music the Topless women compilation is brilliant
I heard that forgotten Hastings front man Rhys from the thrash/folk band The Rump Roast Farts had a an appendenge the size of Idaho, and was not afraid to use it.
If all else fails, try Vaughn Hope (keyboard, Sugarbug), however small he makes an outstanding effort!
Sick of seeing the Muttonbirds (however great they are), we do need some good NZ talent (Chris Knox, HDU, Shihad) up here in Glasgow, Scotland!!!
Well said. To get recordings from bands like Shihad, HDU, HLAH, and Chris Knox etc are close to impossible over here in Scotland.
Little old NZ does just fine in the music department, and with the current demand for 'alternative' sounds, surely these propective labels will make an effort.
Other than that, now that we can burn cd's ourselves, the lables are losing money as us ex-pats distribute recordings around the world to the locals!
Any live recordings of HDU, will swop for copy of thier Demo.
Will pay postage to Scotland!
Living in Scotland for the last 5 years requires a steady diet of kiwi albums, these are the ones that keep me sane during the soccer season and snow.....
Abstinence:Acrimony EP - HDU
Paul Ubana Jones - Paul Ubana Jones
Hail - Straijacket Fits
Abbasalutly - Flying Nun Compilation (good for freaking the locals)
Blisters - Andrew Fagan

AK79 - Compilation
Hard to pick one, so I will pick a few...
Liberal backlash angst- CHRIS KNOX
AFFCO- THE SKEPTICS
Hail- STRAITJACKET FITS
Grey Lynn- ABLE TASMANS
and........
Every HDU song released.
Has to be HDU, filthy, sleaze ridden sounds.
Followed by Chris Knox, and funny enough The Mockers.
After a weekend sitting in Glasgow with some fellow NZer's listning to King Loser, HDU, Chris Knox, Straitjacket Fits and The Clean, drinking an outstanding amount of Lager, we discussed in a very slurred manner the merits of Flying Nun.
Are we just homesick ex-pats who are missing the music we grew up with and love, or has Flying Nun really hit the nail on the head by releasing the best music in the world for the last 10 years?
Who else compares? Who else could predict the likes of Chris Knox becoming a national icon, who could have so much faith in HDU releasing such an effort as Cross Channel Multi Tap, and what company would fathom giving Into the Void a chance to record an album, which is a recording that The Jesus and Mary Chain could only dream of?
Are there any other lables that can possibly compare, or are we just being silly buggers high on memories?
