you can grade (colour correct in most edting apps to a degree, some better than others.
then tere are the plugins. probably the best one around is colour finesse. But its not easy and takes a lot of work.
Damn cant pply tyip prpr inglieesh???
Its not a fricken cell phone!!!
Planning is MAJOR, including story boards.
The Director has the vision but if none of the crew understands it then the whole deals gonna be a shit fight
Yeah I've seen that... its pretty good.
Gives a few hints about whats going on but still leaves it a bit mytified. Also hes using a kick ass machine for the grading, something most of us will never set eyes on.
Probably one of the best extra bits on colour correction I've seen.
Yeah ... pro gear makes all the difference.
I've used a DSR 500 on a few shoots now and thy're sooo nice. Every thing just works as it should.... solid. Real nice image quality too, must be the big chips they have.
Yeah three kings was pretty nice as far as copying traffic... i don't know?
I think some of the grading in LOTR was a bit 'all over the place'. but maybe I'm just being picky.
Still think the original Matrix was a bit of a stand out in many ways..... pitty about 2&3. but maybe I'm just being picky.
colour correction is a real art and damn hard to do well, I guess you've either got the it or you don't.
Its amazing how much it can add (or detract) from a story.
Check out Traffic and Pitch Black for some interesting stuff
yeah its pretty damn good at taking from progressive or interlaced video and switching it to 24p....hence the film look.
Some of the colour correction in look suite is nice too but it talks for evvvvvvvvvvvvvvver to render!
Colour finesse is the BOMB!!!!! for prmary and sendary colour correction, through on an extra spot clour correction filter and you're away...
keep your eyes open for a new flm school opening in wellington in a year or so.
Massey school of design and fine arts is starting a post grad film school, sounds like they have some pretty good people lined up to run it! could be intersting
yeah but it was a good take on and concept, it was nice to see amovie that wasn't american gloss.
Check out the cut scenes on the p2p networks, some very interesting insights into the production. Especially the deserted motor way scenes..... very cool.
there are so many plugins that do this effect and I agree with Jimi.... get the concept, story, filming and editing right then maybe think about applying the filters and effectsat the end.
One thing to watch with filters is the default presets, they're generally shit and often are an over kill... subtlty(?) is is the key and keep it simple if you can help it.
best thing is to just do it, DV is cheap not like film!!!!!
to see what DV can look like go see 28Days Later at the movies..... filmed on an XL1 miniDV cam.
Now hes left his wife and kids, hes trying to be "hip and edgy".... what a prat driving around in his BMW and sipping coffee in cafes..... dick
I'd definately need to hear your band first. If you've got a website with samples, or if you could send some mp3's, that would be good. Demo CD would be a bonus.
Free sausage... I'm sure we can sort something out there ;)
If you're in a band and would like to play at a surf sports prize giving party in Taranaki, let me know!!!
We're looking for up-and-coming bands to support a well known NZ act.
There will be competitors at the event from all over the world and possible TV coverage.... it will be a great chance to increase your profile if you're into that??!!
Date for the prize giving (ie. beer filled party) is 27 Oct.

Lyall Bay.
20mins on a bus $2.50, 5min $12 in a cab.
You can live across the road from a km long sandy beach. Watch the storms roll in from the south and crash onto the beach 20m from your bedroom.
If it windy the sand is a bitch, horizontal rain and sand mixed together... not too nice, sandunes in the back yard.
But when its nice its really nice, can get good surf.
2mins from an int airport, no real noise.
Feel like your miles from a big city, but your not really. Get some kinda kooky folks out this way.
Its a life style....
I guess they'll need to put on a fake US accent eh?
Ahhh who cares.... good on 'em, I hope they make millions!!!!!
I had probs also.... Using a G4 mac.
I encode all of my CDs to my monster playlist, the new Pacifier is dodgy.
Disc1 track 2 is fucked, just won't encode, does about half then skips to the next one.
Disc2 is just not readable and ejects after my machine trys to read it after about 5mins of trying.
Mega disapointed about the shodyness of all this. :(
don't botherwith anlogue it will look shit and won't be up to TV standards. The idea is to aquire (film) in the highest quality possible. Mini DV or DVcam are cheap and pretty damn good quality. Beta (analogue) and Digi Beta are the next step up. But if you have the bucks, skill and crew then 35mm film is best but you have to telecine to digital edit and dump out to Beta for TV = expensive
Newset dog on the block is Hi Def now thats the shit, all digital and super hi-res which means you have laods of over head to play with = zoom/pans/effects/grading etc.
Bummer is that when you use higher res formats your hard drive space get gobbled fast, hte higher you go the quicker that nice shiny new 200gb drive you thought you'd never fill will disapear.
