the non linear tremolo and the delay look really promising Darren. I think when they are released I'll have to put my boss tremolo and delay out to pasture once and for all...
I saw the heading of this thread and immediately thought 'Olsen Twins' for some reason.
I laughed at their music taste:
//What are some of your favorite groups, either current or past?
We really like Avril Lavigne, Evanescence, Three Days Grace, Green Day, AC/DC, and Alison Krauss. For racial groups we like Final War, CutThroat, Saga, Max Resist, Youngland, Brutal Attack, and of course Skrewdriver. But our all-time favorite is Barney the purple dinosaur!//
12 year old girls liking a band like Skrewdriver is pretty damn weird...
that party was a little too packed really... People were still coming in up until the collapse and it was already impossible to move in the house as it was. I've been to the last 4 big parties there and each time they just get more and more insane. Maybe they should only have one well known band, not three.
I like the idea of a benefit gig though. From my own personal teenage firelighting misadventure I know each Fire appliance costs $800. I counted 4 of them there when I left... god knows how much ambulances cost to call out... there were 4 of them too...
Not ALL students are doing Bcom's y'know. There are some open minded souls out there. Give it a try...
Amen. Must be all the overheads from the voluntary labour they have down there.
The guitarist in my band heard the new shocking pinks album today (like, the one after Mathematical Warfare) and apparently its totally brilliant. off the radar even. totally cosmic. Its been a pretty fucking awesome year release wise with NZ music so far, maybe this could cap it all off.
My band is playing the 'WTF cannabis aint criminal!' show tonite. I'm borrowing Darrens apparently.... I hope its not that amp i was going to borrow. I'll be well gutted.
I keep on looking at the lucidtone amp... I cant wait to play it in welly this weekend! I've got the biggest case of gear lust I think I've ever had and I havent even played it yet.
the numberplate on that van says "punks" as well... thats one punkass van.
///hey I'm sure I read that alabaster theatre own a bubble machine... non?
So do Body Corporate... twos better than one right?
//all these twenty somethings in ponchos sniggering because something 'looks' like a bong, all those t-shirts with cannabis leaves on them. etc etc
would be nice if people could just smoke the stuff and have a good time getting fucked up without buying into all this cheesy cosmic corner bullshit, the guy that runs those shops must be the richest hippy around. /////
Damn straight. the thing that really gets me are those cheap posters of an alien smoking a doobie. However, theres nothing better than getting baked then lying back with a few boxes of N2O and listening to a few of your favourite albums I gotta say.
This show should be great fun. I hope all you welly NZM'ers turn up to this one.
I second that. Mr Yettons the man. Albeit a very domesticated man it seems at present;-)
See you at the Odeon with any luck....
I'm looking foward to it.
I'll have to use it as a pickup line one of these days then, see how far i get.
///then you get the people who arrive at 1am who don't even know where they are, what time it is and who they are... you just charge them a fiver.
unscrupulous, but a nice idea;-)
that seems like good advice. it is dodgy if people come to expect to get in for free. it would also be difficult when you did start charging, i could see that leading to a bit of alienation.
on a side note, I got my amp cone replaced foetusboy. my amp has a totally different sound. EVM cones are completely different to celestion - though in a good way. even with just 1 new cone the amp is so much clearer and has a more percussive response. I also drown everybody else out again, just like the old days.
close miked the difference is amazing, the celestion sounds like it has had a fairly thick rug placed between the cone and the mic when compared to the EVM. I've come to the conclusion that customising the cones in a new amp should really be as obligatory as customising the pickups on a new guitar.
Yeah, I like the concept of koha. we haven't done it yet, but it sits heaps easier with me than making people spring for $5...
The 'how much is too much' for a live show thread got me thinking...
How much is too much for smaller/new bands? I have no problem paying $5 to watch a band play, but at the same time I hate charging $5 for my own. whats everybodys feelings on the issue?
I think in some ways its a bit too northern english for kiwi tastes.
I missed safran last nite! i'd been looking foward to it so much too.
Everythings gonna be just fine man...
Its a complete non-issue. Destiny party dosent even rate in the polls.

oh man, she dosen't does she?
