Hey do you know any bands who are entering in the wellington vic/massey battle of the bands?
Hmmm. Chad Kroeger and PJ Harvey are both ugleee in my opinion - as is Courtney Love and Kelly Osbourne. They're not hardcore ugly, theyre just not picture perfect - I hope you can get what I mean, as I'm not trying to diss them but I can't be bothered thinking about this enough to put it diplomatically.
I think you're right, though, about how it seems girls have to look perfect to succeed where with guys there's a whole lot more variation. Look at actors and actresses. It appears to be the same.
The chick bands/bands with chicks that I have been into are Skunk Anansie, Kidneythieves, Hole, Garbage, Smashing Pumpkins, Kittie, Lacuna Coil, oh yeah and just that one song Gravity by the Superjesus...
And does Daniel Johns count as a girl? Because I LOVE Silverchair, and I've loved him forever :D
I was talking to a guy about chicks singing rock awhile ago and he said that generally he just didn't like it because chicks can't usually sing rock like guys do. I know what he means. Its not often you hear a girl groaning and screaming and stuff, but its cool when it happens. I dont know if its a novelty. But I do know that its a gap to be filled. And I guess whatever band fills the spot first in a BIG way will get to be the pioneer chicks of rock and will probably be remembered for a very very long time.

I'm pretty sure that is Bic Runga. I think thats the song that goes "something good will come my way, maybe this good thing's gonna happen today" I dont know what its called, but if you put those lyrics in the speech marks and then "Bic Runga" into a search engine, it should come up with the song.
Wellington based rock/alternative band wants a bassist and a drummer! You have to have your own gear. Skill + experience necessary. We're looking for people between 18 - 26 years old. We're starting a new band though our current members have been gigging in bands before. So far we have two guitars, vocals, and keyboard.
Hey, we're an experienced group, starting up a new band. We really just need an awesomely skilled drummer, but if you're a guitarist you can query us aswell and we might consider you. If you are between 19-25, and into a vast range of music - by this I mean you LOVE screaming, and you LOVE grunge and metal, and you LOVE melody, then maybe you are the right person for us.
We have two song-writers in the band and we're into doing all the technical artsy musical shit and definitely trying to take the music to another level. We're also really serious about it - we want to get into it straight away and we want to be heard!
