By the way, his question was is it ok to pretend to be a girl - not is it ok to be queer...

WHICH RAISES THE QUESTION: If you lie about who you are on the internet, then is that ok?
That includes your age, appearance and gender.

My opinion is not its not OK.

I didn't realise I wasn't chilled, shaken, not stirred. Tis' true this is The Bar, but I don't think this topic is worth being on this website Ü

Quantum : 8 November 2004 - 3:15pm

Then again, aren't reviewers/critics just offering their own opinion anyway? I mean, ever see a movie you really liked, then read a review saying it was rubbish?

All reviews could be taken with a grain of salt, in the end, its up to you what you choose to buy - but it might pay to preview something instore before you buy it if you're not sure.

We have some good artists and some pretty mediocre ones too, but reviewers (and radio) I think are trying to push kiwimusic to the public, and sometimes pushing things on people can have a negative result in the long run.

My point I guess it, that we should be discerning when it comes to kiwi music, push the good bands, but don't push them just because they're NZer's.

Quantum : 8 November 2004 - 2:54pm

The thing is, will they get a return on there investment? Sure some kiwi artists are showing promise (betchadupa suck) but spending our tax dollars and selling them overseas may just mean we lose them to Australia.

Is it ok to pretend to be a guy online?
Obviously guys online must be more desperate than girls if you feel you have to pretend to be something you're not, then thats not ok.

I mean whats this all got to do with NZMUSIC anyway???

I believe it goes a little somthing like this...

D6/9 E7/9 Em9
Tall and tan and young and lovely, The girl from Ipanema goes walking, And when she passes

A7/6 Dmaj9 Bbm6 Dmaj7
each one she passes goes "a-a-ah!"

Dmaj9 E7/9 Em9
When she walks she's like a samba that, Swings so cool and sways so gentle, That when she passes

A7/6 Dmaj9 D6/9
each one she passes goes "a-a-ah!"

Ebmaj7 G#7 Ebm7 B7 B7/6 Em9 Gm6
Oh, but I watch her so sadly, How can I tell her I love her? Yes, I would give my heart gladly

F#m7 F#dim Em7 A7/-9
But each day when she walks to the sea, She looks straight ahead not at me

Dmaj7 Dmaj9 E7/9 Em9
Tall and tan and young and lovely, The girl from Ipanema goes walking, And when she passes

A7/6 Dmaj9
I smile, but she doesn't see, She just doesn't see, No she doesn't see

But I could be mistaken.

RE: to all planetjack.com users

How can this be the best online music store? it isn't even online anymore!!! Best online store if you have broadband internet is www.digirama.co.nz pay per download of albums, or just the songs you want from an album.

I'd like to make clear 3 Points..
1) All the clam-shell phones look alike, so whats the fuss over the style of your phone (Also teenagers are poor and go for crap phones anyway)
2) Since Vodafone is a foreign company trying to muscle in on the NZ market, I think any supporters of all things Kiwi should go to telecom.
3) Ya'll txt too much!!!

Thanks for participating in my study - Tall Poppy Syndrome in NZ.

Do you feel pride in your nation and its music should be any less ridiculed as pride in yourself ?

I order from overseas, Im impatient and can't wait 3-6 months for bands to trickle down to this part of the world. Brooke Fraser is just having her songs released in Australia now (her album came out late last year) and Pete Murray and Jet from Australia both released mid to late last year, and only get here in the last few months - and then RIANZ wonder why people download music off the internet!

Quantum : 11 December 2003 - 3:10pm

Well since we have a wealth of wannabe hip-hop stars in NZ I would say any musician/song writer who doesn't perform the music that NZ record producers want to push to radio are the under-rated ones, I don't think you'd hear Lucid 3, or concord dawn much, and Goldenhorse? well they were lucky enough to release a commercial success with "Wake up Brother" I doubt they would have recieved much recognition if they hadn't.

My bottom line is that if you want to be over-rated, grow your hair long, call yourself "The Nissans" and write songs about how much you rock!

If I txt them 1 vote to play The Wiggles Big Red car - will that get played, or will my friends have to vote too? that would make an interesting test of how many people vote.

Oh yeah, and who else loves the way half the screen is taken up with :
VOTE A for STATIC X
VOTE B for BOBBY BROWN

and you get this little box in the middle of your screen with the music video playing in it - I can just imagine what viewing that txt voting show must look like on a 14" tv!

A good question would also be "DO YOU WATCH tv4/C4 more now that it is a music channel, than when it was a b-grade tv channel?"

Quantum : 11 December 2003 - 2:51pm

I'm dumb, so I don't see what a music show called "Intellectual Property" is about.

Some chick who sounds like lisa simpson hosting a bunch of random music videos? I'm lost on what that show is targetting - PLEASE HELP ME!!!

1. I'd watch C4 more often if I could get a descent picture, reception on tv4 after 6-7 years is still crap!
2. Any show that lets people choose what they play is going to end up being a teeny-boppers-fest what do you expect?
3. m2 was pretty good, C4 could have learnt a bit from that.
4. Jacky (however her name is spelt) is a bit insipid to watch, probably why tvnz gave her the slip with SPACE.
5. They need to break up the music more, and have some sort of stucture to what genre's get played & when - don't leave all the decision making to people who think all the world has to offer in the way of music can be heard on ZM or The Edge.
6. new releases? I dunno , intellectual property? whats that all about?

I give up - I will stick to streaming music channels on the net - at least they have a clue about what they're doing.

Anyone who has been to a REAL concert would know the difference between outdoors and indoors gigs,

being indoors listening to a live band with a really sharp pitch because their sound technician is half deaf and thinks that sounds good - thats not a pleasant experience, no matter what the volume is. However, many artists now use earplugs, and I would recommend anyone going to a live peformance bring earplugs just in case!!!

Prolonged exposure at high volumes causes permanent damage, and can lead to tinitus - constant ringing in your ears - so THINK before you go to your next concert

LISTEN for LIFE

Quantum : 4 December 2003 - 5:39pm

Well, I guess he is a kiwi, and a musician, well sortof, so should he be listed as a kiwi musician? cause really, he sucks - I think the Aussies can have him when it comes to music anyway.
