Do you think the feelers are going to change their name to the grippers ?

richard : 4 July 2002 - 2:24am

Hi
I just want to add my .2 cents here.
If you look at some of the forums on here at the start of the year when the name change was being discussed I was posting and I was really annoyed.
I can understand where people like Mike Hunt are coming from.
When they said they were changing their name so as not to offend Americans and not to attract the attentions of American psychos and not to loose fans there I was so completely shitted with them.
The reasons for this after thinking about them are wrong as obviously its the music that counts and if anything they are going to be so set on proving that the name detracts nothing from the music.
Anyway what the reasons for me having been shirted with them were was really my frustration with America and their little war , their genetic engineering and so on and it boiled over in to my feelings towards shihad changing their name.

If Shihad just changed their name and said we changed it because we are odd and we felt like it then myself and I think others would have not been annoyed.
Miffed but not annoyed
All it took was to sit down with killjoy and with TGE and I suddenly really wanted new material.
Its sad that Shihad changed their name and its also a lot sadder that theres a xenophobic nation led by president gas doing their best to ruin the world but theres lots a music to be enjoyed so I'll have some cool tunes to listen to while ignoring the propaganda that prevades.

Yes thats me saying to the folk who were saying it doesn't matter if shihad changes their name that I was arguing with that I was wrong and I realize it.

Oh yeah this is likely the wrong forum or something but there we go.

I was listening to the radio last night and laughed my head off almost Lindsay from Frenzal Rhomb was on and he said was that Frenzal Rhomb was going to change their name for their upcoming album to Shihad.
Something like september 11th the musical by shihad was what he said the album would be called.
I think that it will be so funny if they actually do it.

I don't think he was seirious but I for one would love to see it happen.

What about triple J getting played in NZ.

It isnt as good as channel Z wellington was but its better than any thing in NZ i know of.
It hasn't any ads and they play a fair bit of NZ music .

richard : 14 January 2002 - 9:37pm

//I think we should consider ourselvels lucky - especially compared to 10 years ago!//

If your from Wellington you could also say we should consider our selfs very unlucky - especially compared to 4 years ago.

Channel Z Wellington version 1 was so very good and showed what could be .

richard : 14 January 2002 - 6:12am

Ok then.

Who else can stop this New World Order other than the american public ?

richard : 14 January 2002 - 5:55am

I want to point out that in Australia Shihad is a widely known name.
Many times Ive met new people and they hear my accent ask if im from NZ and then procede to tell me how they love Shihad.

I think Other than Crowded House Shihad are the most widely known NZ band in Australia.

They have TGE in the cd section at K msrt here.

I was with a friend of mine who doesnt know a great deal about NZ music having
a coffee and Jon walked past on the other side if the street and she saw him and said "there goes the singer from Shihad".

So I wonder if it is a good idea to confuse the Australian Shihad buying public.

I think that the out of respect for people who died and their families motive is really sick.

It is sick because the ratio of people who died in america in those buildings (home to some nasty corporate types I'm sure)
to people who america have murder/genocided in places like Nicuragua, Japan, Vietnam, The Philipenes, Turkey, Columbia, Iraq and Many more.
I don't see these people being respected or even remembered.
They are dead people to and they massively out number the Americans killed.
Dead victims from countrys that the usa HAS terroised deserve respect more so than dead americans because the USA
is clearly the more violent and more deadly.

As a NZer I feel very threatened by the USA and the corporations like Monsanto that come from it.
I feel more fear for my personal safety from Monsanto poisoning me and the usa govt forcing the NZ govt
to allow them to get away with it than I do from Osama Bin Laden.

Its only fair that a band (a poor band I know) like the presidents of the united states of america have to change their name.
Their name is Im sure highly offensive to the familys of the murder victims of the american military.

Why do the american victims matter more than ones from other countries.

Is it because we actually believe the CNNsored lies ?

No one deserves to be attacked but out of all the people in the world I think americans are the least undeserving of
an attack.

richard : 14 January 2002 - 3:21am

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

richard : 9 January 2002 - 1:55am

I just want to say that My mum likes the feelers.

richard : 9 January 2002 - 1:44am

Because I can.and because I like having oppurtunities to say to as many people as possible that I think the feelers suck.

richard : 8 January 2002 - 10:59pm

Nah don't be sorry for that little rant.
It was bang on.

Poor New Zealand.
We get amerkanised all the time.
Poor Wellington, We get so many of the really best things taken away and americanised

I suppose Shihad need the money from America
It sucks for NZ and for Wellington to whom Shihad are an institution and arguably our most cherished band

I say fuck americans with no brains (thats not all americans mind).

We should decalre a holy (non violent) war on them. They have declared one on the food chain of this planet among other things.

Fuck them.

I am sick of the USA
They are terrorists they are fat slobs, they make people starve to death, they drop bomb on peolpe, they dropped 2 atomic bombs on citys of humans.

why should we want to cater to them

richard : 7 January 2002 - 4:10am

heres a quote from me

"the feeleres are a piece of shit"

richard : 4 January 2002 - 9:00pm

Mayby the guy from the snake river conspiracy got death threats form some crazed smiths fan who didnt like
the terrible version of how soon is now that band did.

Mayby some americans will like your band because your music is bloody awesome aside from what your bands name rhymes with.

richard : 4 January 2002 - 8:29pm

Perhaps shihad should change their name to

Infinate Jusatice.

richard : 4 January 2002 - 8:26pm

Oh actually i just realised the flaw in that idea.

We are actually supposed to be thinking bombing people and bombing hospitals and schools and peoples houses is a good and just thing to be doing.

Oh god mayby bomber will read this and change his name to smart bomber or some thing.

Im sorry for being so dumb

richard : 4 January 2002 - 8:23pm

Hey mayby some good will come of all this.

Mayby some NZ radio people like the more fm /channel Z people who love doing what ever the most annoying and lame of all american radio stations are doing could follow suit and get rid of that tosser that calls himself bomber.

I mean people might get ideas.

richard : 4 January 2002 - 8:18pm

those american censors.
Some american radio network apparantly won't play Imagine by John Lennon in the wake of the Sept 11 "terrorist" attack.
what are they ?

richard : 4 January 2002 - 8:10pm

If Shihad change their name it really is a scarey omen for free expession.

richard : 4 January 2002 - 7:24pm

It doesnt really matter what they call them selfs i suppose.

That said I would far prefer that Shihad stays.

Why not just adopt a USA name or some thing ?.

While were at it what about USA songs to.
Best not to have any lyrical content in them. ya know incase you offend people.

Mayby we can keep the name Shihad in Aus and NZ ?

Isn't just a small notice that Shihad have been called Shihad since about the time when America were killing people in Nicuragua a good enough explaination of the fact that the name is nothing to do with disgrunted people from arab countrys who the USA is commiting Genocide

richard : 2 January 2002 - 12:15am

No the Brian Adams comparison might sound perhaps bitchy or petty but when I think about it I think that it is a fairly good and helpfull recomendation to some one who genuinely likes the feelers style of music.

richard : 2 January 2002 - 12:11am

if you think that the feelers are the worst band in new zealand (what kind of a claim is that anyway)

Urm the claim is that I think the feelers are the worst band that comes from New Zealand that I have ever heard.

richard : 1 January 2002 - 7:02pm

Theres some videos up here that are in quicktime only.

I am wondering if it is possible to encode them in mpeg or real so that people who
use OS's other than microsoft and apple can watch them.

Other than that small gripe this is a very excellent web site

richard : 1 January 2002 - 6:37pm

Gee sorry if that offends you.
I was trying to help you in a subtle way so I'll be blunt.
Many of us NZers are quite ashamed of our feelers.
I can rememebr in 98 going past a record store in Wellington where the feelers were playing and noone was watching them.
It was the feeleres doing a private gig for the folk who worked in the store.
And they (the staff didnt look happy about it I wouldnt be suprised if they just got the feelers to mind the shop while they went out for a bite to eat to escape the awful embarrasment and humiliation and reminder that you come from the same country that spawned such an awful band.)
Im sure the feelers wouldnt have stolen any cd's while they were gone
The feelers are a made by radio band and the only reason any one listens too them is because they get way more media attention from the media than most other act and that is really speaking volumes because the NZ radio stations love music that sucks.

It is perhaps like me saying brian adams represents good canadian music when the reality is he is crap compared to say godspeed you black emperor and other canadians I havnt heard of and you would expect a grilling for such blasphomy

It is really annoying when you know of how good some NZ acts are and people in other countrys are interested in the poorest band from New Zealand.

I hope you understand

.

richard : 1 January 2002 - 6:22am

I really agree with what you are saying here.
They make it hard for youth in NZ and make things look a little empty and then wonder why theres suicide

I read the bottom post of yours .b4 this one.
