"recreational drugs don't seem to be banned or embraced on the strength of how tolerable the comedowns are"

Actually in alot of instances they are. One of the major reasons the Expert Advisory Committe flaged BZP as low risk is that the severity of the comedown greatly lessons the potential for abuse. Its important to realise here that the comedown itself is not directly toxic, and if it prevents the indicidents of 'binge' use it actually lessons the harm potential of the drug.

There are many other stimulants that we could have embraced, those of you who remember the EASE trial will know about Methylone which was considered to of much greater risk despite realitively similar pharmacodynamics to BZP.

The future of party pills is uncertain in my view but im sure the months ahead will show some significant developments. The ministry of health comissioned multiple studies last year, all of which i belive are due to come in before the next meeting of the Expert Advisory Commission on Drugs later in July. No doubt that with these studies availiable a look at the classification of BZP will be on the agenda.

The first study however is out now, i think it is availiable at
http://www.shore.ac.nz/publications/publications.html

for any who are interested.

I think BZPs days are numbered, despite no conclusive evidence as of yet that its presence is a bad thing, moral panic will win in the end. All its going to take is one death before Mr Anderton steps into the limelight and announces that the similarities of BZP to known amphetamines make the substance a class B drug under analouge drug laws.

snubnoise : 9 January 2006 - 3:09pm

snubnoise : 9 August 2005 - 8:26pm

snubnoise : 18 June 2005 - 10:31pm

Yeah you can.

I highly recomend digitechs products - in my opinion they are cheeper, more solid, and sound better than the boss pedals.

Either that or a hotcake as mentioned above!

snubnoise : 7 June 2005 - 4:36am

Lemmon and honey melted into hot water :-)

snubnoise : 29 May 2005 - 8:35pm

How stoked am i!!!

Planning on shoting across the ditch for a month or 2 in august anyway to celibrate the conclusion of my tertiary education, so i had a mate line up this morning for tickets.

Anyone else planning on making the trip? can't have the ausies having all the fun (im still bitter about radiohead)

snubnoise : 29 May 2005 - 7:16pm

I wish to agree with the Odessa representation above.

They are going from strength to strength and they are my boys.

There cricket game could do with some work but..............

snubnoise : 19 May 2005 - 8:56pm

Im keen as beens but struggling a bit with the $20 on the door. Their live act is superb but my student budget would not allow me food if i went.

Could do with some persuasion....

It wil be a shame to loose the cross, the bar has always been supportive in offering gigs to unknown bands and acting as a launch platform. If the cross goes then alot of stress will be placed on the wellington scene. Valve is great but booked months in advance. Indigo have their rock cradle but are not generally interested in bands than can not provide them with a demo and would usually prefer more established acts. Bodega could pick up some of the slack but have a fairly full bill.

I would imagine that if the cross goes Eastside could stept in. VUWSA are good about giving bands ago and Eastside are not so busy that they couldnt fit in another night or two of live music a week. The P.A is better than the cross had and they generally look after their acts their.

That said it would be sad to see the cross go, it had the shitest P.A in wellington and a tiny stage but is served its pupose

I think its more likely that the monkey left the village, downed a huge feed and then slept for 15 hours

snubnoise : 24 April 2005 - 6:07pm

Possibly a dirty synth pedal? can you describe it in more detail? is their a recording of this effect?

snubnoise : 13 April 2005 - 3:29pm

"Taken in combination with other drugs, nos has been implicated in the deaths of two young men in car crashes in Christchurch and Nelson."

Wonder if the 'other drugs' where alcohol by chance :-P or if the drivers didnt have a license?

Never used n2o myself so im not directly bothered by this change, i am bothered by polititions using weak evidence in order to gain votes from the closed minded

snubnoise : 9 March 2005 - 7:22pm

Go to a health food store and purchase a bottle of "gland nector"

It costs abou $25, takes filthy but i honestly think it sped my recovery up ten fold.

Comes in a blue bottel and you take a tea spoon 3 times daily.

Hope you feel better soon

snubnoise : 9 March 2005 - 7:19pm

I was working it as security,

Thought the sound was appauling, my familiy who went felt the same.

There was no guts to it, could hear him clearly and the backup vocals but the rest of the band was just noise, not difined at all.

I acknowledge that it must be hard getting a good sound out of the stadium but for an act as big as him there is little excuse
