There are now a few new tracks available for download on our website, including the song we just finished recording at York St.
Feedback is welcome...
True. Thanks for the help guys - we're obviously pretty new to this, but its interesting to learn how to do it ourselves. Until then i guess we'll just have to get baking!
Yea we're gonna get it mastered but if it sounds shit before then it will still sound crap after. We know what we are going for and we can get it sounding good, but as soon as it coems off the computer and onto the car/living room stereo the balance gets all fucked up.
I guess we need to upgrade the soundcard/monitors?
Yea we've done a bit of recording on the cheap at the Auckland Uni, but we are struggling a bit with the mixing, especially getting it to sound good on different stereos. How do you guys get around this?
What about garlic naans? I love a good garlic naan with my butter chicken and bellydancers.
If butterchicken can actually cook decent butter chicken then he's a shoe-in.
Haha yea i think we'd rather go with the baking stall idea. I played at a wedding once in a crappy cover band down in Otago, and i felt slightly dirty afterward.
Cheers bro, we are up in Auckland at the mo but we're keen to come down to Welli to do some gigs, maybe we could fit in some recording too. I'll let you know...
We've just been recording a single at york st, but we won that in a competition so it was all free. We were hoping to do another couple of tracks to make an ep. Do you know some people who know some people who could help us out?
Music can be an expensive past-time, especially when it comes to the recording process. We have been trying to think up other ways to raise a bit of extra cash (other than with merchandise or prostitution) and I was wondering if anyone had any good ideas.
We were thinking of maybe having a baking stall at our next gig, with cakes and biscuits etc. For some reason we tend to play with a lot of metal bands, and im sure they would love a good homemade custard square or two.
Any other (less stupid) ideas?
Thanks guys, its always our pleasure.
We are playing a few gigs out of town over the next week, but we are back in auck on Friday the 20th at Ricks Bar, in Dominion Rd, and on Friday the 27th at the Crook, in Pakuranga.
Hey guys, just downloaded your track. Its sounds wicked - the vocals especially came out quite well.
You guys sounded great at battle of the bands - I was pretty surprised that you didnt make it through. I thought you would have cruised in, what with all the crowd support. I talked to the sound guy after the gig and he said you scored low on "originality" cause you sounded too much like Muse, but i guess thats his problem.
We have now finished recording two songs with the guys at Rock Factory, and this weekend we head into York St Studios to record a third song and get them all mixed. All for under $300! Haha who says good manners dont get you anywhere these days.
P.S. We also got through our heat of Battle of the Bands, so we're into the semis in August.
sounds like someone has a crush on someone who plays drums for someone haha :)
i was trying to hook up a gig with the mint chicks, so he gave me his cellphone number and email address - for the right price i might be persuaded to share...
i had a good yarn with paul before a gig they played at edens bar a while back - he's a fairly quiet guy, or maybe he was just a bit scared cause i was drunk and probably spitting and stuff. but i did get the whole band to sign my copy of the octagon, octagon, octagon ep so yay for me!
i remember paul said he was studying architecture at auckland uni - i guess he'll be putting his studies on hold for a while.
the blue team go video is pretty random, especially since it is only about 1 minute long...
Super massive extra large sloppy thanks to everyone involved in last nights R'Totos Band Quest. We took out the final (only just, according to the judges) and now have in our grubby little hands a whole bunch of cash, rockshop vouchers and soem recording time at York Street studios.
Yay for us.
Big thanks to everyone who turned out to cheer us on last night at the R'Totos Band Quest. Hopefully we'll see you all again next Wednesday when we compete in the grand final.
mmmmm...$1000 of Rockshop gear and a single recorded at York Street. I'm drooling already...
