i'm so sick of punk music, all these up and coming punk bands are either copies of blink 182 or rancid...NZ needs to support new music...not recylced music

//I thought about lena's golden rule//

Thanks for the comments guys!! Anyone know Who this Lena person is?

granttheking : 13 August 2004 - 5:40am

short answer no...long answer HELL NO!

granttheking : 13 August 2004 - 5:26am

people say i look younger without facial hair....when i had my evil goatie, an aqquantince (spell?) of mine made a comment and said "You're 27 years old hey?" and i was only 19....i think that says it all? Go facial hair !!! i think i have a chris cornell middle chin half goatie type thing, with a very thin stubble moustache...whatever...i like it...

yeah i agree...it sucks that the thought of all your hard work gets ripped off by someone who copies the cd off their mate. I reckon copying cd's is ok, as long as you are copying a cd you already have, or are making a mix cd from cd's you already have. Otherwise you're ripping the artist off. If that person really wanted the CD they should go out and buy it. If everyone did that there would be more artists out there, and the law of supply and demand means that CD's would get cheaper, because as people buy more, labels can afford to sign more artists, and thus supply more music....

granttheking : 13 August 2004 - 5:18am

the real problem is that artists arent making enough money for labels to be able to make more records, which in turn means that labels can promote less artists, and results in less music being available, so labels then have to promote the most popular artists, or face bankruptcy...

however i dont think downloading music is the problem...its a series of problems the music industry is facing...the main one i think that is fueling this problem is the lack of a dominant format of music....50 years ago everyone bought records, then CD's came along and over took record sales, now we have a million places to get music, we can get it on vinyl, cd's mini discs, mp3's and none of them are dominating the other....

mp3's are being pushed as the next big thing, so it will be interesting to see what happens...

Hmmm thats a little harsh dont you think? I mean i could say the same about metal bands...i personally dont have an interest in metal bands who scream throughout the song and sing about dinner with lucifer.
I could call that anal as well....everyone is entitled to their own opinion and tastes.

Many Christians chose to listen to listen to Christian music because they know it is something that wont influence them in a negative way. Music is a very powerful medium, it can stir you up, calm you down, and change your mood. It general it promotes positive things...but by saying that i'm not infering that non christian bands dont promote positive things.

The reason Christians protest at gigs like Satan Fest and Slayer, is because these bands promote very negative things. Slayer for one, blatently sings about his anti-christ status, and virgin sacrifice. While i'll admit that slayer has some damn good riffs, their lyrics are so negative i wouldnt want to listen to them for my own spiritual health....music that promotes negative values will not help you in the long run...

By the way, the term anal (unless its a slang word) doesnt refer to anything...what i think you're refering to is Froyd's way of explaining an individuals personality...they could be either Anal Expolsive - Can't hold anything in, bad at keeping secrets, very bubbly, or anal retentive - quieter, calm, not as talkative, easier to keep things in ....just being anal could mean either one, and isnt the correct use of the term...
