Looking for a down to earth bass player who just wants to play. RnB, funky, blues. It's good clean fun and plenty of room for improvisation and creativity.
I'd love to come along! Love to see what happens - give me a bell jezuz_christ@yahoo.com
Nah it's all good - it worked for me, cheers mate it's a good start!
Are there any Jazz/Blues Collectives in Wellington I could get in contact with?
I guess the best thing to do is just get together and see what happens then - give us an email and I'll send you some contact details. jezuz_christ @ yahoo.com
Well i'm in my twenties, I have messy hair and I play the guitar. My greatest influences are Blur and Oasis and I learnt to play Stairway to Heaven at the tender age of fourteen. I can't sing but I understand that computer technology can be used to enhance my voice.
I have a girlfriend called Britney. I hang around hip hop artists and frequent bikini nights at the Sports Bar. I still see my parents but I can say that I am very angry with them as it helps out with my songwriting ability.
I know who Brian May is.
I watch the Osbornes on television and I still find it funny. I have an unlimited collection of Anna Kournikova posters and I know all the best websites.
My stage persona consists of standing there and hoping the other members of the band will back me up when I make a mistake and swearing at the soundman when I can't hear my foldback even though it's perfectly alright I just can't play in key.
i think marijuana should be legalised. I sniff paint and I have a huge disregard for the police except when they're saving a life in a car crash or something.
Am I hired?
You may know Niki Ash. I think she's about 23. That's the only one I know from that age group!
I know a few people from Thames Highschool that left in those years! It is a small world!
It's okay to live in the Hutt kid. But I understand your concerns. When your phone reminds you that you're in the Hutt, just say to it: "I don't beleive you". And everything will be alright.
I've had my fair share of Palmy life. I think it's time to pass down my knowledge now.
Velocity I love you and want to have your babies. For I, too, have decided that maybe, just maybe, I should walk down the halls of scholarship once more and finally get my degree. It is a revelation as this will be the first time I have taken advice from my mother.
Go back to school kid. You'll learn how to spell and become an intellectualist. I have already bought my own lunch box.
Who knows, we could end up study buddies!
Are you crazy? Okay, if people want to drink beers in palmy, they have their reasons. Respect them. That's what a friend would do.
There are no great clubs in Palmy. At all. Zilch. The main student hang outs are the Fitz, located on Fitzherbert Avenue across from Pack n save. And at three o'clock, usually on a tuesday, they venture to Bootleggers, where the beer tastes like shit and probably is. There is a bar called Scarfies, used to be called Old Railway and the beer is almost as good as booties though I think they just scrape the spillage off the floors and add water. Hmmm, good beer. And usually its commomn practice to trudge to and fro across the muddy railway land to the original Fat ladies arms - a good place to hang out for a fight or have sex with drunken biker ho's.
For fights with bouncers, barmen and drunken teenage girls, try highflyers located in the Square (aptly named for its remarkable resemblence of a square except its filled with grass and trees. This is a Palmerston North landmark and is not to be knocked in front of the locals) or the loaded hog, which has a remarkable intake of around three to four punters a night.
If you want to kick back, try the celtic on broadway. Next door is the all bar three with its drink price ranging from around three dollars, is exceptional. The enviroment is lively and they play hip hop music.
Palmerston North is also proud to host a number of all night Lounge Bars where you can hang out, play pool and have sex with questionable women for a set price. For the whereabouts of such classy establishments, just look for an elderly gentleman in a long coat.
Nowadays it has a sign but you'll notice it for it's infamous green neon. It is called Rendesvous. A top of the line restaurant, poker bar where all the Asian students hang out. Can be a lot of fun.
Diablos is the only dance place, really, and it's dance floor is as big as your lounge. But its okay enough.
As well is the Cobb which hosts an upstairs bar as well with pool and a generally pleasant dance crowd - only if you enjoy eighties material but its fun enough.
Oh, and last of all is Firecats. A seedy strip joint. Novelty wears off soon enough and the crowd consists of drunken bachelor parties and lesbians (well, that's what they told me). If it's any consellation, it's a tad more interesting than Mermaids - the dancers tend to yawn less.
In between are just your average chum places where you can drink, have pleasant conversations, or dance (Uno - underground). The Grand is the best place but people haven't cottened on to it yet. I say this because they're lovely.
Maybe but overseas recordings are usual of better standards and besides, they're creating work for the film industry - that's where the money goes. The film industry is just as fickle as music and its better we support each other.
Your comment is fair. Lots of people complain about NZonAir but the fact is, it sucks! Only the best get supported - it's a harsh rule that has to be accepted. Some of us just aren't cut out for the rock world. Those of us that are deserve to be funded and all power to them - regardless of whether they record overseas or in their bedrooms.
oops - wrong box i replied to - it was meant for the guys up top! I generally do have a massive disrespect for the big ass corporations who gain from other peoples addictions! According to the statistics, "P" would be a fast selling multi-billion dollar industry!
I reckon a lot of reformed smokers are in the same boat - they just don't want to be near smokers cos it makes them crave.
I hate being near smokers but i respect their right to smoke, it doesn't make them bad people for their life choice!
Producers can over produce an album sometimes. I reckon tineka moa is a lot better than her album. Blindspot definately different. its the "produce for radio listening" makes it easy on the ear syndrome. It cant be helped if you rely on a bad producer to do the work but hey what can you do?
What happens when the govt goes crazy? If they ban smoking, are they gonna ban drinking in pubs as well?
Spose if you ban smoking in pubs after a year they're gonna forget about it anyway and not smoking in pubs will be a natural thing.
Would be good to have a clean pub i guess
yeah true - different stuff blows you away. Went to a beatnik poetry thing just tonight, just jazzy music and poetry, it was real out of it! Taking the time out for something totally different just relaxes you and your less tense!
Well sorry miss Highass - i'm sorry for disturbing your important reading time. Here, I'll just poke my head in the corner and not bother your timid head anymore, for surely it must need so rest.
For people in Wellington! (Heh! sorry about that aye...)
