DAMMIT!! How could I forget "Got to know" by Supergroove?
Oh well.
Most recognised: "Counting the Beat" by The Swingers (of course)
Homesick Value: Anything by the Exponents
Most rockin: "Renegade Fighter", "Little Things", "Home Again"
I have not heard a lot of Weta or Betchadupa, but that's all gonna change come Orientation! :-))
Cheers,Tim.
Hey all,
Just wondering what you people think of Wash.
I reckon they are bloody awesome. I have seen them perform twice, first time at our school ball (cool eh?), and then actually at school. They were really good both times. Just my luck of course, I wasn't at the Parachute festival for their performance, but nevermind.
Their vocalist sounds kinda like Zac de la Rocha from Rage. Their guitarist, (who started out as their drummer) can also sing really well, which is an advantage because they can include both rapping and vocal melodies in their tracks.
Anyways, enough of that... Your opinions please :-)
I really do agree with Heather.
I liked Zed, and still do, but the best songs like Oh Daisy, I'm Cold, and Renegade Fighter were released some time ago.
I also think that their record label has cottoned on to the the fact that by releasing the poppy ballads and pushing Andy Lynch's heart-throb image they can attract a lot of teeny-bopper fans. (No disrespect to Andy, he's a pretty darn good guitarist)
It'll (hopefully) all come full circle when they bring out their new album, I don't doubt Zed's ability to write rockin' songs.
Cheers,Tim.
This is a beaut! Love the trumpet, I'm gonna figure this one out and write a tab for it. And I fully agree with the NZM blurb for this song, it was made for the mosh pit!
Just wondering how many of you are in a band, turning out some good ol' NZ music.
Doesn't matter whether you're a learner or a hardened old muso, post something here!
Cheers,Tim.
Excellent!
Nice to hear people talking like this! But local bands need to take the initiative, by going to radio stations, offering them demos, doing gigs more often, even free ones, and getting their tracks online at MP3.com or Garageband.com. Ya gotta compete if ya wanna be heard!
Cheers,Tim.
I also saw them do "Little Things" on Space. What a sound! Bass and drums gave such a good groove.
Warren Maxwell is a legend! I was amazed when he started playing his high e string and changing notes by twisting the tuning peg. The sound he got added so much atmosphere!
Are these guys ever in Tauranga? Hah, not bloody likely ;)
Hang on a mo'
I like both Zed and Fur Patrol. I think Fur Patrol's live gigs are better, but Zed sounds better on CD. There's no reason to knock Zed just 'cos they do have connections, it doesn't make them a mediocre band.
However, after seeing the Dunedin gig, I have to say Fur Patrol's stagecraft is fantastic. The sound setup was lousy and the crowd wasn't that big, but somehow they still rocked the place out!
Peace,Tim.
