Guitarist looking to start punk band. Influences vary greatly. A few examples:
The Casualties, Rise Against, Leftover Crack, Crass, Blink 182, The Killing Tree, Stiff Little Fingers, MxPx, NOFX, Misfits, Rancid, Dead Kennedys.
Anyone intrested reply.
Chur.
NZ hip hop is pathetic. Commercialised american bullshit, in which in very few cases is there anything that is somewhat related to NZ.
Dei Hamo and Savage are two of the biggest at this. Dei Hamo especially.
The image that is brought upon by hip hop is one of aggression. Sure, because people listen to the music it doesnt mean that the problems associated with the image are brought on by listening. Music cannot force you to do anything, it can, however, adjust your perception of things.
My problem with the image lies in the aggressive behaviour it presents. I dont understand why people intentionally go out of their way to fight others because it's "Gangstar," or whatever hip new slang is used nowadays. The images we view on TV encouraging people to do drugs, drink lots, mistreat women, manipulates the minds of many individuals. It's 'cool' to be an illiterate fuck who has nothing better to do with their life then stay on the dole, waste their money on stupid things and be a fucking creep.
Sure all of this is stereotypical, but the image that is conveyed through hip hop goes that way. What i cant comprehend is why people find it cool. Now dont get me wrong, I'm not blaming hip hop for societys problems, i'm just saying it contributes to it by manipulating weak minded fools into this god awful behaviour. People shouldn't feel afraid to walk down the street because a bunch of stupid kids may pick a fight with them.

The venue itself is quite hard to find. It's next to the barber shop down a long driveway.

Strange. Yesterday i couldn't see it at all. Must've been looking in a different forum. My bad.
I'd be more inclined to look in The Bar for gig listings. The gig guide doesnt work on my computer. While we're on that topic, why was my "Flat Wanted" thread deleted?
