yeah but does nz music month push the bands like that anyway ... or is it another savage gig, p - money, misfits of science.... all the stuff that sounds so american you'd have a hard time trying to work out if it was from nz

pine : 10 April 2005 - 12:50pm

maybe instead of a generic NZ music month we change the tactics slightly and make it purely about unsigned nz bands.... how about that?.... imagine a month where you here loads of new stuff that even the bnets wont play. At least you'll discover some new music. or broaden the scope to cover classical, jazz and stuff..... it seems the pop/rock/indie side gets the thrashing but how many nz classical musicians do you know.... i personally couldn't name any

Blink...that's a good way to look at it. I asked my brother in Law yesterday where he thought goldenhorse were from and he thought they were british. There are still the uneducated.... but the point is why do we have to put a badge on and say "NZMusic"...it actually doesn't matter where they're from does it?. If it's good it's good. He still liked goldenhorse even though he didn't know it was NZ and it didn't matter one bit where they were from. I just see it in the end as getting detrimental to the actual music itself. If there was an NZ made car with an NZ made badge on it.... do you buy it cause of that??.. nah... it's whether it gets you from a - b...same with music??

pine : 10 April 2005 - 1:51am

precisely....we dont need to make another event of it.... unfortunately all this hype will just create the backlash to it all... not nz music itself but the brand it's created...well it's allready started i guess with RDU's somenzmusicisshit campaihn

pine : 10 April 2005 - 1:30am

Does anyone else get the feeling that we dont need another new Zealand music month? with the advent of Kiwi.... it's kind of NZ Music month every month and it just seems the more we keep hyping up this idea "nz music" as a brandname, an identity it is cheapining the good new zealand music out there. Just let music be music.... if it's written in NZ by and NZer it's all good but dont let it fall under the brand "nz music" .... enough is enough.

pine : 10 April 2005 - 1:25am

grimee.... are you a complete moron?? How can a radio spend all nz on air money on a campaign that consists of a 1 page website...( probably took and in house designer 2-3 hours).

by the looks of the shorts alone - this looks like a complete pile of bile. Pio hosting - what would he know about music? It's an insipid attempt at trying to please everyone by having old/new/variety acts which will probably rate well but will be absolutely shit to watch. aaarrrgggghh
