I need a singer who dosn't suck like me :) Are you at Uni next sememester/summer school?

Ranger : 13 October 2004 - 11:53pm

Or maybe its the communists.... they're evil, right?

Ranger : 13 October 2004 - 11:51pm

admittedly i DO occasionally slip into my alernative state: that of small sticks. I can't help it.
Maybe if i cut back on recording so many songs...

Ranger : 13 October 2004 - 11:46pm

according to that great piece of NZ literature (ODT) approx $200K. I mean that is wicked-awesome for a flat that close to uni anyway. But if we can make it part of the uni by getting a dept to buy it for us then we'll be there. Imworking on the business plan right now.

Take Matchbox 20, sift a little Lighthouse Family and add one cup of Bic Runga and Dave Dobbyn.
Stir in one jar of Ryan Adams and Train. Simmer.
Serves 2.

Accoustic Light Rock?? (hesitant here...)
Really dont know. How about you just grab a seat in one of me and Matts practice sessions.

Like i said, not many people like it.

Ranger : 12 October 2004 - 6:54am

Dan Mather - Accoustic Guitar. I really dont know how to define my genre but if you tell me your bars name i can drop off a tape for you.

Do you have a piano there? (real piano, not keyboards) If so I've got a backing friend who really complements well.

My email is Matda546@student.otago.ac.nz

Ranger : 12 October 2004 - 6:50am

Im keen. Not many people in NZ or dunedin go for my genre so it'll be interesting to see if there is actually people who can listen without judging after the third bar.

Dude I'm thinking about setting up something 4 ppl like us on Clyde St opposite Commerce building. Those gungy flats (like that narrows it down) are being sold 4 pittance. If we can get the Mus dept to fork out we can make it happen.

Or just go to clubs and socs. :)

Ranger : 12 October 2004 - 6:31am

Im an accoustic guitarist.... need one? 20, Bcom. Hang out far too often in the link :)
You MAY have heard of me thru the Critic. I was running 4 commerce rep.

Ranger : 10 October 2004 - 7:41pm

Thanks bro. Whats an sm57? is it one of 'dem fandangled "condensor" mics? aparently i wont be able to record without one...

Ranger : 10 October 2004 - 7:16pm

Hey kids. I've got my accoustic 6 string steel (No p/up) and wondering what kinda mic to use. Bear in mind this mic will be plugged in to my laptop, so do i need a preamp too? Sorry about my ignorance, but im a commerce student, not a muic/electrical engineering one!

ANY advice at all will be great. I've got a backlogged repituare(sp) that needs 2 go onto Audacity.
:)

Excellent point by lcajmo. I dont particularly like Rap/Hip hop and i REALLY dont like heay metal, but i still think we need more of each genre. I think most of us here subscribe to the fact that NZ music has almost got a genre to itself. Christ look at Goldenhorse! you cant really match them to any band out there. But theres something unique about New Zealand music on the whole. Its something that i dont want to give up and i hope you guys dont either. Good luck to every artist in every Genre. And if some one gets recognised for their talent in NZ Idol then good for them. They can be one more ambassador of NZ music.

So you're a firm believer in "Work Makes Free" Sam?

Ranger : 18 December 2003 - 6:44pm
