//though they might be "all doing very well at the moment", their impact is pretty much nudda. the only nz genre to have any impact internationally would be indie rock, & by that I mean solely the flying nun label of the 80s, quoted as an influence by many an overseas artist.
you really don't think OMC made an impact...they sold millions of records and went to number one all over the world. Lots of americans say they are an influence, like Kid Rock on Juice the other night
Hey inskster
if you like Sway, In The Neighbourhood, How Bizarre and Screems From Da Old Plantation, and (from elsewhere) Morcheeba, Alabama 3, Jamelia, Gorillaz and Eminem.
You are gonna love Eyes on The Prize.
well I think they are just being themselves and it works. The diffrence between their album (which I really like) and most other NZ hip hop albums (I'm thinkin' Scribe and Mareko and othas) is that 3 The Hard Way are still just doin their thing and don't give a shit what others think while the others are makin records that are more like what they think hip hop should sound like...kinda like cartoons of american hip hop three years ago
been buyin hip hop for a long time and I figured out years ago that its about breakin the rules not obeyin them
a hip hop video with girls and sex in it!!! will wonders never cease :)
their own women? A quick look at these guys will tell you that they, like a lot of kiwis, are mixed blood. These girls sure look like West AK girls to me so thats representin'
yep they used the same girls...probably because its like part two of the same story...must've been made for people a bit brighter than you
Duncan Grieve's review are usually pretty funny. Not because he thinks they are but usually because he completely misses the point of what he's reviewing, although he doesn't know it. He's negative for negative's sake- often just tryin to prove how smart he is. He usually ends up illustrating how out of touch he is.
lotta Samoans have got some German blood cos it used to be a German colony
by the way Stuie I know you are a Maori so you don't need to repeat that bit
actually me too. I loved the singles and bought the album but don't want to hear anymore...pleeeze...its overkill.
We've banned it in my shop now cos we're all over it
Stuie, if you think that Inner city Auckland is not NZ then its you that has problems. The whole country is NZ, not just your little corner. I live in Auckland NZ and I'm a NZer. Where I live at least 50% of the people have Polynesian or Maori roots and another 15% are from parts of asia. Now I'm a NZer and those people are too and I'm glad about that. I don't know where you come from but the Nesian Mystic videos represent the part of NZ where I come from. Maybe not your part of NZ but thats called diversity. Much of Wellington looks the same racially. Between 30-40% of Nzers live in the Auckland region. Seems you have a problem with either that, or their racial origin. Thats your problem, not ours and you gotta deal with it cos it ain't going away.
Hey, posting in English might help...save the shorthand fr yr txtng
Nesian Mystic were mostly born here and are as kiwi as anyone else here and about as representitive of inner city Auckland as any band could be.
How do you define NZ citzen....by the colour of their skin?
If thats the case it says more about you than them
The videos are just so totally NZ
tis true...there is not enough kiwi music on c-4. Even the top 40 kiwi stuff seems to get played less than overseas top 40 stuff
thats why on any Friday night in Auckland there are thousands at house and hip-hop gigs and only one or two half full rock shows eh?
also it kinda sold really well for the first couple of days but its really stopped now. Like the Mareko album did.
Our biggest selling kiwi records today were Haley and Concord Dawn and its the same across our chain I think
that dance mix of Dance Stamina on George FM last night was pretty amazing but I rang Sounds todayand it s not out yet..anyone have any idea when its out?
