well this sounds like one of the comments of another whiney jealous rock band. seriously people why cant we all just appreciate others music instead of turning rockquest into some big competition. This isnt some fucking sport people, the judges take them on talent and crowd appreciation and from what i could tell the whole mosh bit was going hard out for them, not even knowing their songs. Not many bands managed that. Ive got their demo and it rocks. I think that they totally deserve to be going through. Maybe we should all hear what your band can do before you go and critisise others. Congrats to Overdrive and good luck for the semi's.

Oh god, here we go. Ok some of the stuff you say is true, such as talking to other bands and making contacts if u want to get gigs but seriously about the whole listen to what people are buying/ listening to, that has to be the biggest load of crap in the world. Well if u wanna turn to shit like Zed (have no problem with them personally, i've met them a couple times and they seem like very nice boys) then go ahead and become mainstream for the sake of making a whole lotta money and get a whole lotta lil teenage chicks that shop at supre and call themselves punk just for wearing a trucker cap(wow) screaming your name and turnin up to all ya gigs. Zed were so much better when they first came out because it was pure and it was them and thats why ppl liked it but now they have gone all mainstream for the americam market. Oh yeah by the way the american mainstream market can kiss my fine ass.
Its not what rock music is about, well real rock music anyway. Rock music is about the love of the music you are making and creating something for yourself, not for other people or for the fans and money. Real music comes from the soul, from something deep down, not some stupid want to be rich and famous. When i write a song its personal and its not for anyone else but for myself, if other people like it then its a bonus but its not what i do it for. If you treated your band like a buisness it wouldnt be true or real, and thats where the best music is born out of.
I will however respect your opinions and i realise you would have had much more knowledge on the industry then i but thats my opinion so yeah.

Being only 15 and usually not being able to go to all the gigs cuz they are R18 which i respect cuz when im 18 i dont want some stupid lil teens screwing it up but i thought it was the shit. apart from the odd supre shopping skanky hoe that ruined it. BDO is better than all X-mas and birthdays and concerts and everything combined and throw it up at a crowded stadium and u've got the big day out. So below ill do the thing that everyone seems to be doing and write a review on all the bands i saw

BLINDSPOTT - Damn can those boys scream and scream well. Last time i was at a blindspott concert was quite pleased bcuz when the lead singer did a crowd surf i was handling his um.... groinage area which was quite fun. lol at my dirtyness
THE DARKNESS - OMFG. My mate sienna turned me onto the darkness about a month b4hand and ive absolutely loved them ever since. A great show and the efforts of the lead singer to bring back the skin tight cat suit has been sone wonderfully. And changing costumes mid show was a stroke of genius, he had the whole crowd screaming at the pink and white striped catsuit slit down to the waist. I wish i could reach those notes and im a chick. I was loving the u say what i say thing he had going on, i was screaming out the sex noises. Got some good photos Great great fun
THE STROKES - Omg casablancas was totally off his face and fuckin hilarious. My new favourite catch phrase from the show is "i think somebody's drunk and its most definitly me!". Then his wild crowd surfing which ended in him standing in front of a NO CROWD SURFING sign and simply saying oops. I had always liked the strokes but now i reckon they are the shit
THE DANDY WARHOLS - The dandy warhols are one of my fav bands and so i was really looking forward to seeing them live but after a few songs i left because they were like the avril lavigne of live rock bands - just plain fuckin shitty.
BETCHADUPA - Poor betchadupa playing in the same time slot as metallica. They were wicked none the less. They were hard out and wicked moshing material, apart from the skanky lil 12 y o old supre hoes behind us who were shouting out between every song "WE LOVE U DRUMMER BOY" then i exclaimed rather loudly "isnt it past ur bedtime" and they shut up after that. Then tim finn came out on stage to talk to one of the roadies after the show and the crowd went wild, pretty funny. but if the security guy who stole the drumstick off me that the drummer threw to me is listening then FUCK YOU!!! did anyone else see that. i was reaching over the bars cuz it fell down the front and the cunt of a security guard on a power trip stole it and gave it to some skanky hoe, god knows im the biggest betchadupa fan (c'mon dude i missed metallica) and i play the drums and matt (drummer from betchadupa) has been one of idols forever. So fuck u, u stupid asshole security guard, U SUCK BIG FAT COCKS
METALLICA - Do i need to say anymore. They had the whole crowd on their feet, it was amazing. I have never seen a crowd so amped, It was totally wicked. BEST BAND EVER!!!
SHOPPING.... Oh the shopping, i got myself my very own ride the lightening girls metallica t-shirt and a rock and roll mother fucker one aswell. Plus a few cuffs and a channel z trucker cap to top it off.

I personally haven't heard moses and the muffs b4 but i hear that they are good. I've heard falter a couple of times and they rock. Degrees k will be a new one too. My dad got free tickets to prodigy when we were in auckland cause he used to be a tour manager, so the first band i ever saw live was when i was about 10 and what a band to see at that age aye but i loved it. People were hanging off the tent ropes that were holding up this massive marquee. God knows how they got down, they were obviously stoned. People were climbing up the poles that were holding up this 15 meter high tent. Was the best concert i ever saw except when a few years ago when i saw red hot chilli peppers at the BDO. Now 15 i reckon that there are great performance bands out there but the classics are definely the best!!!!

Degrees k. are comin back to nz anyway. they just went ova to record. they are doin a concert with 'falter' and 'moses and the mufflers' (two great bands that came 1st and second in canterbury reegionals) at 52 basset st 7.30 - 9.30 at the powerhouse. yeah i guess it really sux if they go overseas but its their choice if they wanna make sum moola. i would do it if i got the chance but i would come back to nz heaps to do tours and stuff cause the NZ MUSIC SCENE ROCKS!!!

i think its way harder for girls to be taken seriously, mostly because for centuries we have always been thought of as having to look perfect and be prim and proper. For egsample a lot about getting famous in the music industry rock/pop/hip-hop etc. is being very good looking. There are so many guy bands that have but ugly guys but play damn good music, but if it were the smae for chicks nobody would take them seriously if they were ugly or fat etc(especially the guys, sorry for steriotyping but in general). Tell me how many chicks in bands have you seen that are famous and look ugly? Then tell me how many guys have you seen in bands that are famous and ugly. Its just something to mull over.
