dont agree- words in lit= score in music- reading a piece of lit=performing a piece of music- what whiteys doing is going back & amending the score- lou hasnt done that- hes given different readings of his original scores

the thing that i object to in whitey is that his writing aint that good- he can come up with a good story- as proved by the great adaptaion of whale rider- which i finally got to see last nite- but he cant commit the story to paper in a way which allows you to lose yourself in it- hes so fuckin leaden

¿doesnt it annoy you that everytime whitey uses maori in his books he immediately has to follow it up with a definition?- ¿has he not read burgess?- ¿or grace?- its like he is conscious of his audience the entire time

so- ¿why is he rewriting his works?- simple- whitey knows they dont stand up- its an act of cowardice- instead of proving hes a good writer by giving something new hes gonna try to prove it by reworking his past- in doing so he hopes that noone will remember the bad whitey- that is if he succeeds in doing justice to his old stories- i hope he does succeed- but really- hes been mediocre for years- ¿is he really gonna find his voice now?
