I think The Coolies are this countries best band, followed by The Futurians.
The following are two articles [not written by me] regarding free music and its ethical/economic/psycho-social dimensions.

I, in part, support the free music movement, yet feel it counters the aims of APRA, bNet and all instituions within this country formulating a national musical identity. I, in part, support the right to efficient networking for mutual gain, but prefer a more anarcho-capitalist [yes , it exists] stance. What does the community think about the mp3 phenomenon? I have been involved with digital releases for 5 years now, and feel that our media is intent on suppressing our knowledge of its benefits by slanted reporting, over-exposure granted only to a select few bands who 'play ball' [a kind of corporate funded white-wash]. Anyone agree? At the end of the day, I would like to think that bNet is about the love of MUSIC, pure and simple. I am not doing this for some sort of left-wing credential or cultural sanctimony. I do it because traditional music organizations have refused [with the exeption of Flying Nun in 1996] to package my work and shove it down the nations throat.
I am not a threat to the industry.
I am a promoter of more liquid access to the psycho-physical and neuro-biological joys that experimental music evoke. And if the ideas I conjure lead to just 1 individual enhancing their objectivity as regard to society, or expose corporate corruption, or lifts the veil of ignorance programmed into those of the TV generation, my job is done.
Thank you all, congratulations to those rock bands who organise and stand tall over the new orders plot to divide and rule, confuse and alienate, weaken and sicken and keep people stupid.
Like me.
