What is, how you say, hip?

Hi all,
I'm new to this board, am moving to NZ in a few months, and am terribly interested in indie music. Can anyone suggest an online radio station that would tend to play a lot of NZ indie stuff?

I've already seen the price of CD's down there (OUCH!), so I'll make note to stock up before travelling. Is there anything else that I should know in order to be prepared for NZ (musically)???

Thanks,
M.Liz

bFM is the Auckland campus radio station - they play heaps of indie stuff. They have streaming radio.

As for CD price, I don't know what the comparison is with Canada, but they're certainly pretty reasonable here compared to the UK or US; especially if you buy online via some outfit like - umm, oooo, I dunno...say...smokecds? http://www.smokecds.com

Also, as you're into indie stuff you can usually get pretty cheap ep's direct from unsigned bands at their gigs.

Radio Active's got an indie show Monday nights, 9-11 (don't know what that'll be in your time)

The other campus stations all have NZ nusic shows and all are between 30 and 40% NZ music. Radio One in Dunedin (www.r1.co.nz) has its NZ music show Thursdays 10 - 1 a.m. I think RDU's (www.rdu.org.nz) is in Wednesday evening.

Oh, and if you're moving to, say, Levin or anywhere else in the New Zealand heartland, don't expect to hear any NZ music.

any=much

flying nun used to be cool. then they started sucking really bad. pretty much the entire history of NZ independent music is contained in this eternal truth.
