Finally jumping on The Darkness bandwagon

Yep, and only 6 months or so late. Rocking out like it's 2003 all over again.

The Darkness>>Too Soft and Wussy for me.

But they're SOOOO fun to sing alot to!

I Respect your opinion soldierboy, but for me - Soft Rock aint my cuppa coffee these days, Dont mind Heavy 12-bar Power Blues from the 1960s, and i love Metal from today (except nu-metal) but todays soft-mod rock stuff doesnt really appeal to me

The Darkness cut a bit to close to the bone for me.

From when i was 10 - 13 years old all i ever did was rock out (as much as a 10 year old can) to Def Leppard, Bon Jovi, Poison, Alice Copper, GN'R, Skid Row, Motley Crew...etc.
Not to sure how i really feel about the new pretenders to the throne of mighty glam rock.

Some friends of mine who are quite alot younger than me LOVE!!! them, but they are a bit young to remember the real stuff.

But i'm starting to warm up to them.

Jut let go and give in to the darkness. There's pa-lenty of intellectualising going on with other bands.

That was the stuff i was into as well Lug

Ahh I'll never forget the days of jumping around the living room being a rock god playing air guitar to Unskinny Bop, Living On A Prayer, Youth Gone Wild!!!

Get the fuck outta here. GNR is not, and never was hair metal.

//Get the fuck outta here//

Im sorry slash, but yes they were, sure they evolved, but the seeds were sowen with hair!
Check out the pics for Live @#*@ like a suicide, glam to the max. and axl has never evolved (bike shorts for fucks sake). Duff was prettier than most chicks. they were a glam band who swore, sung about niggers and breaking hearts.

It's a style of music too. You can't compare them to cheese like Motley Crue. Yeah, they had big hair because it was the in image at the time. Thankfully appetite started selling, and they dropped the gay image.

I hate using words such as 'were' when talking about GNR.

I've only really got into them fairly recently but I just play 'Love is Only a Feeling' over and over again. It makes me feel all squooshy.

I'm addicted to that song also.
When The Darkness first came out, the only part of a song I ever heard of theirs was the single played on the ad for Channel Z or something. Shows how little I listen to the radio.

Yeah The Darkness are wicked! I heard Growing On Me and I was instantly hooked. I read on the internet somewhere that it was genital warts, and if you read the lyrics, you could almost see how someone could come to that conclusion, but I don't know if that was true or not.

they're good for a laugh, kinda guilty pleasure

The Darkness are truly wonderful in my opinion. 'Love on the rocks with no ice' is fantastic, particularly performed live. I'm still unsure whether they are a piss take however. You'd think so, judging by their vids, but then the interviews with them on the live c4 presents from a while caused some doubts, as they sugeested they were totally serious about their music, but not themselves. Makes sense i suppose. Either way, i like their glam rock sound. And singing along really does test out one's falsetto.

yeah that really worried me. i could understand them being a fun novelty band, i saw a couple of cool quotes - playful and ironic - but then i saw a few of the more recent interviews .. that C4 one, oh man it really looks like they are believing their own hype. getting their knickers into "told you so" twisties about being the first unsigned band to fill the Odeon or whatever ... like they were getting really snarky about it. not funny-ha-ha, no-irony snarkyness ...
