I've got maybe 5 or 6 albums released ...
I've got maybe 5 or 6 albums released this year so far. The ones that might vaguely qualify as more than "pretty good" are:
Fennesz - 'Venice'
Amp Fiddler - 'Waltz of a Ghetto Fly'
Ghostplane - 'Panther Valley Social Club'
But nothing absolutely stunning really. I was surprised that I quite liked Franz Ferdinand. I'll have to give them another go sometime and see which way I fall with repeat listens. :) Good old 80s revival, eh?

One thing I will say about Franz ...
One thing I will say about Franz Ferdinand is I feel happy for the record label. Maybe a weird thing to feel happy about, but Domino release a lot of artists that I really like, and presumably the relative success of FF will help them to stay afloat.

Franz definitely have some 80s influences, but I wouldn't go as far as calling them 80s revival. I've noticed a lot of people have been approached franz cautiously - probably the hype/"next strokes" comparisons/inevitable signing of dozens of similar sounding bands quickly followed by the backlash.
But c'mon people - an interesting band without the cheese factor with great songs that you can dance/drink/vacuum/snog/whatever to & always leaves ya smiling. Leave those apprehensions at the door, get on the ferdinand express & enjoy the feel good album of the year.
