I find this a hard point to swallow. I sense recently a few wires getting crossed (not just in this post of course). If you post a structured thought out comment, I would say thats exposing yourself and your opinions in a public forum where anybody can respond (positively or negatively). To me thats more courageous than wankery, more inclusive than exclusive.

Having a dedicated 'chat room' forum like this isn't any less annoying than chatting away on the other forums - all your comments still end up in the 'latest comments' list as well, which is where a lot of people (well, I assume it's more than just me), keep a tab on current topics.
