Or girls in bands also. I'm just wondering whether there are any girl bands that people know of that they like, or hate, or admire, whatever.
Are girl bands a novelty? Do you take them seriously? Is there a place for girl bands in the hyped NZMusic scene at the moment? Are they treated better now than they might used to have been? Are they received as well as male sister bands?

My sister is the most talented musician I know. When she was like 7 we were at our neighbours house, they had a music box that played fir alise (spelt wrong). She had never played piano before, but she sat down and started tinkering and within 5 min was playing the entire song. To my knowledge she is yet to pick up an instrument she cant play.

I don't agree at all. Women must be differentiated when there is obvious imbalance. If it's alright to differentiate between music genres then it's also appropriate to do so with gender- music isn't just music- it is influenced by many factors- including what sex you are. Did that make sense?

although not technicaly an all girl band, i think veruca salt were one of the best rock bands to have ever existed. also not all girls are batrider, who i think are among the top rockers in NZ at the moment.
that brings me to the point that's been bugging me for a while; how come more times than not when there's just one girl in a band she's always the bassist?? you see it all the goddamned time. what is it? batrider are a nice antithesis to this :)
