ps- i love run lola run! awesome movie and franka potente is great although did you see her in bourne identity (i think that was it) was she good i'd like to know if it's worth seeing . . .

yes.

You should also make sure you've seen the princess and the warrior (also with Franka Potente, and the same director as RLR). Also, thinking of german movies, I reckon goodbye lenin is well worth watching. It's currently on in some sifty place in brooklyn.

Hey I bought Run Lola Run for the CD Store a couple of weeks ago for more than that and just discovered it skips. Sonofabitch.

Uhh.. I got I Am Sam for 10 bucks from a video store... and... Holly McNarland's "Stuff" for 2 bucks from Real Groovy... and The Tea Party's "Triptych" for free.

//just discovered it skips. Sonofabitch.

If you gently rub toothpaste along the scratch in a circular motion, then rinse and dry, it should take care of any skips.

Isn't that just an urban legend? I haven't tried it myself, but I just can't believe it would work.

if you're in wellington you can head down to slowboat. they resurface your DVD;s and games for about $5 or so.

american toothpaste is diff- it has araldite in it

Resurface you say.... interesting. I may have to take a little collection down one day. Thanks.

My brother tried the toothpaste thing ... it worked, but only temporarily.

My dad does all mine....i don't think he'd agree with toothpaste tho.

// Jay Rubin - Haruki Murakami and the Music of Words

Nice, will be in Auckland this weekend, so will have to grab one.

// in Auckland

true - have a cool day hope it goes great for R & M! wish I could be there

Yeah, cheers, should be fun. I was hoping you'd be up there too... if only to witness me playing dodgy 80s records like 'Let's Hear It For the Boy'. :)

Um, off the boards I think...

Hey Jet, do you have an evil twin that lives in Wellington? Cos I'm sure there's this guy who looks like your photo who was standing near me at the Phoenix Foundation show during the Cuba St Carnival and I noticed him cos I really liked his bag, and now that guy is like everywhere I go.

Yeah, apparently I do based on the number of people who ask the same question. I'd better make sure I wear a cool bag to a Melbourne Phoenix Foundation gig, just so they feel at home.

Have you read 'Glamorama' (If not, keep an eye out for it in discount bins too)? I'd be really concerned if I was you!

Levon Helm's 1978 self titled album on LP - $9 Real Groovy.
Man, I love the Band and being thrifty!

While I'm sure no-one care, once I actually listened to this album, I realised that while Levon has a lovely voice, he misses Robbie Robertson's songs like... can't think of a suitable simile, but you get the picture... Oh well, at $9 I shouldn't bitch....

CDS:
DJ Zinc - Faster $6.99 The Warehouse
Urban Renewal Project (ninjatune compilation) $10 at random record store somewhere?

Casio CT 370 Keyboard (working order) $5.00 @ Blenhiem Salvation Army Store

The Wharehouse is a goldmine for obscure cd singles. They have bins of deleted import singles for 50c - $2 - most of them were impossible to get in nz when they were originally released. It's a cheap way to expand the collection & make it look like you're a connoisseur of rarities. Last visit I picked up elliot smith, at the drive in, beck X3, blur, new order & radiohead. I'm in b-side heaven & all for $13.50!

I'll second that. I got Sparta's Austere EP, among other things, for 50 cents. Insane.

well this post was a while ago but i really want to see goodbye lenin i heard it was funny it seems good anyway umm lets c what other bargins havei gotten oh! jeans down from $95 to $30! i coveted them from afar for a while then bought them and i second the beauty of the wharehouse mostly for cds. but if u want shit cocolate go there. does anyone know why they call it the wuddy fuddy?????

wuddy fuddy is bad pronounciation of ware whare - whare being the Maori word for house, gettit?

I guess Goodbye Lenin is pretty funny, but it is just an awesome movie, you should definitely see it!

dusty in memphis

A masterclass in tone, time, technique, and taste.
Later Stevie...
Sir Duke, Superstistion, Master Blaster, and I Wish.

yeah, luci, your probably right,
i was under the impression that there were a few crew members on the early whaling ships were of asian decent but i can not find verification of this on the net! but i did find an interesting site;

//And of course Seddon himself, that great political icon, was great copy. It was he who preached European superiority over the Chinese. It was he who said, "there was about the same distinction between a European and a Chinaman as that between a Chinaman and a monkey."
