... well, poster zine really.
'Ghost Fight' is a collection of 24 gig posters I've done since 2001. Basically its A5 with a colour cover, 18 pages of black and white and 6 glorious colour pages. Its also a limited run of 50.
I've tried to include as wide a range of stuff as possible - there are posters in there from Auckland, Wellington, New Plymouth, Christchurch and Dunedin, so no-one will have seen them all (though they're mainly Wellington), and I reckon, if I may say so, that the book captures a nice little slice of quite a cool period for New Zealand music.
Bands featured on the posters include The Datsuns, The Phoenix Foundation, Ghostplane, The Mint Chicks, Two Lane Black Top, The Accelerants, Sommerset, Degrees k, Marystaple, Paselode, Die! Die! Die!, Batrider, Ejector, Autozamm, Meterman and The Rainy Days (plus heaps more - I think 36 all up?), and there are some classic gigs to remember: The Datsuns first New Zealand show after returning from their triumphant first trip to the UK, Two Lane Black Top's (and Ejector's, though I really hope I'm wrong) last gig, all three Die Dj Dies...
Anyway - you get the idea. If anyone is interested, Ghost Fight is $10 (which seems like heaps, but its got colour in it and thats expensive) and they'll be on sale at Graphic in Wellington, and probably also Slow Boat in Wellington, Comics Compulsion in Christchurch and also possibly Bunny in Auckland? OR, of course, in this wonderful modern day and age, you can email me or write me a letter and I can send you one in the post. I'm at chickenischamp at hotmail.com, or old school style at PO Box 11200 Wellington.
Cheers. Own-trumpet-blowing ends.

Absolutely beautiful work! And even better, it has a ton of posters I'd never seen before... Only moved to Wgtn around August last year, and I always noticed Toby's posters around the place... the Batrider monster in the kitchen one in particular sticks in mind.
Oh and toby, did you notice the carton of 'Chicken Champ' on the counter in Bud's trailer in Kill Bill 2?

Mine was great.. new shoes and I found one of my favourite albums of all time in Real Groovy too!
anyway, everyone buy this poster book quick smart before all 50 copies are gone. So many cool little details in almost all the posters to find, mull over, and then realise your own work it totally inadequate and have a wee emo moment crying in the corner to!
