The Wellington City Council is currently in the process of taking public submissions on what artists want from the proposed Artscubator project. There was a meeting for artists at Te Papa on Thursday, the attendance of which was skewed very much towards the visual arts.
Preliminary plans include the possible inclusion of a recording studio and practice rooms, but for this to happen more voices will need to be heard from musicians. A questionnaire is currently doing the rounds and can be obtained by sending an email to with the subject
Line "Needs Assessment questionnaire". These must be completed by May 10 at the very latest. The more people that voice the needs of musicians in this city, the more likely it is that these needs will be met.
