Ok so we were driving to wellington to play the last show on tour with Batrider and our van blew up. Now we are stuck in wellington with No van ( as we have to write it off) with all our gear including a hired bass rig.
So until we manage to find money to buy a van to transport our gear to go home to Auckland, we are stuck in wellington.
This is a request to any bands living in Wellington do you have any shows we could jump on the bill in the next week or so? I am talking any shows.........

really, thats cool because a spot has just become available at this show im organising. its not a paid affair but its fine if all you want to do is play a gig. anyway its at karori preschool this sunday at 730am. you have to be there and set up an hour before you play, and we expect you to play for aproximately 3 hours. the upside is that the PA is provided - 15watt Ross vocal amp thru a 4" tweeter. the 'stage' is outdoors on the school field, so i suggest you bring some plasctic sheets to cover your amps with because the weather forecast is wet southerly gale force winds. we help out here if need be. also we would expect you to do a meet and greet with all our new teachers after the show, and at 2pm we would be delighted if you could conduct a motivational speech for all of our kids at the school. tea and cookies provided. any queries?

I love the Stabs. They are my girlfriends favourite new band.
But Indigo wont let us play there because our drummer and bass player didnt want to pay $2 for a glass of water. I think having to pay for water is fucking disgusting! I have NEVER experienced that anywhere else in the country.
Thanks to everyone who has been so supportive of us while we have been down here: blink and his flatmates, batrider etc. Love you all.

Yeah the guy who was asking them for water was a complete fucker. I mean jesus. It was only a glass of water just after they had walked off stage!!!!! Not that i think there should be special rules for band members. But a decent human being would give someone a fucking glass of water!
I really like most of the staff at indigo: brendan etc. But that guy was a fucker........

I'm sure that's illegal. Isn't it mandatory for bars/pubs/etc to supply free tap water if it's requested?
Ah. Apparently not... Sale of Liquor ...
Ah. Apparently not... Sale of Liquor act allows for Liquor Licensing Authorities and District Licensing Agencies to specify their own conditions for granting a liquor license with regards to host responsibility; includes supply of free or reasonably-priced nonalcoholic drinks. Just if anyone was interested. Righto.

it's gotta be a question of morality though
i bet you that they don't hand out ...
i bet you that they don't hand out water in some bars cos in that way if people r thirsty than they buy mor alcohol... then they wonder how people get soooo drunk! no fuckn wonder... oh and also probably so they don't have to pay as much for the water bill... cheap bastards
in the good old days of the ...
in the good old days of the powerstation (before the capitalist ideal of bottled water) i think it was illegal to charge for tap water, but they got around it by charging you for the vessel (read: polystyrene cup) it came in.
these days bars charge for water to discourage the punters that don't drink alcohol. maybe they should have said they were the designated drivers. or better yet - the promoter, whose responsibility it is to organise a rider, should ensure that water is included, along with the twenty white towels and the bucket of KFC.
