yip - I'm in adelaide. Went to the blackseeds in melbourne on sunday (they were fucken great btw) & met up with 20+ x-welly friends, half of them I hadn't even realised now live there. I swear there's as many nz'ers in oz as in nz. Can't help but pine for good ol' nzmusic aye? I miss the welly bands the most (trinity, phoenix foundation, blackseeds, etc) - cat empire & the rest of oz's attempts at roots music just don't cut it!

That gig sounds good, I am rather out of touch with the NZ industry as have been here 3yrs. I really miss NZ music, so it was cool to find this site. There are so many NZers here in Qld too. I was surprised though at how many kiwi's in oz were on this site, that's why I posted on this query. What style of music are the bands you enjoy?

Yeah, I'm in Melbourne, should've gone to the Black Seeds gig (I'm in an occasional band with 3 of them, ffs) but... didn't.
Music-wise I'm into pretty much whatever, not really rock or "dance" (as in clubby doof doof stuff) music.

To be honest I've got really slack on going out to gigs, so I'm not sure what the scene's like. A city of this size obviously has heaps of stuff going on, mainly based in various pubs in the inner suburbs.
I like some pretty nerdy electronic stuff, and there's certainly a lot more of that going on here. Well, there's enough people to get a little bit of a critical mass going.
Pretty dire for roots music or whatever, as Hun suggested. Well, some good DJs and things, but haven't heard any live acts that've impressed me.

Saw the Morning After Girls a few weeks back & was very impressed - well worth checking them out if you like BRMC/Jesus&MaryChain dirge kinda thing.
