Watching tv last night i saw the most terrible and horrifying thing ever.

just simply coz of the fact that you were ripping my nz boys off.. what have they ever done to you?

they insult the sacred temple of rock with there pissy efforts

oh come now, they don't insult the intelligence of the people they're aiming for now do they? a conniseur will always pick a gourmet meal over a hamburger, but a person that only knows hamburgers will probably stick to hamburgers.

None of that Nz Music "sucks" its just not your type! There are plenty of people who like it otherwise they wouldnt be successful or making it oversea's... There is nothing wrong with being Christian. Im not Christian but I understand their values and respect them. Maybe you should open your eyes and not be so narrow minded. The only guy in Zed that is Christian is Nathan and yes you probly did sell drugs to Ben because he is into that kind of stuff! You sound like a complete ass! Get a life!

yeah, it shows.. get a life. you'd be surprised how is a 'Christian' in the music world. What the fuck does it matter? You like the music or you don't, no one is dragging you to church Ronnie

typo, I meant to say 'WHO' is a Christian

hah shot acidess.. =P

it never ceases to amaze me the amount of boppers who jump online and start arguements about the smallest of things...entertaining but pointless.

how did I miss this one? You assume way too much Ronnie, doesn't it bother you that a lot of people could totally buy the fact you were a 14yr old

actually acidess im twenty six and have a glorious life getting high all day playing video games getting plenty of action and playing kick ass rock shows under the influence of acid - yes remember acid acidess?

where as you you would rather defend pathetic christion losers
hahahahaha

It was embarrassing to watch. All that talk about how they Have this Thing. Sounds like they're talking about being disabled. Although I guess there are plenty of people that think Having Religion is a disability.

I don't care how many christians there are in mainstream music - big ups to them and all - but if they have to broadcast it, then they should at least convince the reporter to ask them some dignified questions. And there's no way they should have let anyone film that church service. They never should have *had* that church service. So overblown...so 80's...

//least convince the reporter to ask them some dignified questions
granted if they're just going to respond with platitudes then that defeats the whole purpose but..

I didn't watch the show, because I didn't want vomit all over my nice carpet... what church service?

They didn't get all the 'stars' together to recieve communion together, did they?

it really was horrific heather
they were semi slam dancing and i was just crying
my soul is nearly broken
something must be done
if they are going to have christ rock it really should be the good stuff like stryper - they were great

i found a version of stryper doing "o come all ye faithfull " on kazaa
really good

"To hell! With that devil!"
-------- Stryper

the devil... that should have read - "To Hell With The Devil."

Stryper were never as good as Petra, though.

Petra lol
i forgot all about them
they had those synths on guitar straps
really good

//it really was horrific heather
// they were semi slam dancing and i was just crying
Sooo painful. Just the fact that they were "semi" slam dancing made it even worse. Someone would look like they were about to go ape but then look around just to check he wasn't going to step on someone else's toesy woes.

Did you even hear the music they were playing? How could anyone enjoy that garbage? What happened to Hillsong? I hated Hillsong with a passion, even when I was a christian, but at least 8 years ago they had some hooky riffs.

//if they are going to have christ rock it really should be the good stuff like stryper - they were great
I quite liked Stryper when I was 17. Weeeeeeee will, rock the he-ell outta yooo-oooooooo!

Never really got into Petra. I liked One Bad Pig.

my main reaction was that church was never like that when i was growing up. I found that church service very creepy. I mean, when I went to church when i was little it was all frilly dresses and wooden pews in cold stone churches. I'm sure it was all meant to instill fear into us kids.....

I found the service that they showed to be really overblown and theatrical, it just didn't seem like normal church.

how can they seriously act like that? It looks more like a cult than Christianity. Swaying back and forth, eyes closed with mandatory orgasmic expression. argh! Don't get me started with those awful songs.

I think it's really bad representation of Christians.

//Who are they hurting by sharing what they believe?

THEY ARE HURTING MY FUCKING EARS!

ever since my parents saw the spikey guitars and pentograms plastered on my walls i was thrust into the world of new age youth groups and christian rock camps
so the services shown on sunday night (meant to be amazing news) seemed pathetic and around 16 years out of date
they should have christian hardcore fisting bondage metal services by now

You guys have seriously take the cake for being the biggest bunch of wombats! How pathetic and ignorant can you be? It's pretty clear to see that the majority of you where brought up in good little church going Chritstian homes where you were forced to go to church in your itchy sunday sweater.....and over the years your anger against the world and "Christians" has metamorphosised into a fear. It's pretty obvious to me that you guys have built up a fear of christians from previous experiences. The images you saw, "is the reality" of church today. People go to church for choice, because they beleive in a higher power. I should hope also that they dont care what other people think, it's something between them and god and their relationship. Something that allot of people like yourselves can easily critisize from the outside. Maybe take a look at your own life and what you believe. Are you just attacking christians because your scared yourself? Angry at these people who believe in something you dont know about? Noone can force it on you to beleive, but how about a bt of reect for those who do? Who are they hurting by sharing what they believe? From your comments, they obviously hurt you.......take a look at why your so angry at these people who beleive n a god, before going on a rampant of ridicule and saying things you know nothing about. News flash, CHURCH ISNT ABOUT SITTING ON HARD PEWS AND BEING BORED OUT OF YOU BRAIN! It's about a faith in someone higher than us. How bout some repect and less naievety. chur

Ps, reect should be Respect!! "How about a bit of respect"

Sorry, I've said it before but I can't resist. First: I made my peace with the church about three years ago, but the reasons I stopped being a christian were nothing to do with their faith in a higher power. I absolutely believed in everything I learned in the church and I absolutely still do. I imagine that most of the criticism levelled at the church in this thread has little to do with faith.

My issue is this; Christians already get bad enough press with hyperconservatives like Tamaki and Walton trying to promote their very narrow view of the Christian Contemporary Lifestyle (tm), and now I've watched an article in which a bunch of young people with a strong secular following are aligning themselves with a very skewed version of what the church is. That kind of church appeals only to a narrow demographic, and I think the idea that that's what churches are like is going to turn people off.

It also reminds me of one of the things I really didn't like about the pentecostal church - all the emotional hype. For years, if I was depressed at a church service I thought there was something horribly wrong with me. I wasn't the only one - there's a lot of teenagers and 20-somethings that still mistake an emotional high for a spiritual experience.

Anyway...the piece was a nice idea in theory, but I can imagine it was executed by a young pentecostal who's all enthusiasm with rather less spiritual or emotional maturity. Ronald James is absolutely right in saying it's about 16 years out of date. Yes, they were showing that part of the church as it really is, but The Church is, and could be, so much more.
