hi what it is,
this is for a new zealand resident, hopefully nz musicians will have an idea
trade me (ie stolen goods) is not quite what i's looking for.

//trade me (ie stolen goods)

so unbelievably true! I bought something the other day from another town and had family go to pick it up. they said it was like going to a crack house.

Are you keeping an eye out for your stuff on trademe, Noizy?

When I used to work at Auckland Uni, doing clippings for the med school, we once filed away a piece about this famously eccentric guy who used to spam the junkmail list endless, who, after his laptop got stolen, found it advertised in the paper and went around to "buy" it, then called the police and kept the crook there by challenging him to a game of chess. Genius!

yep. doing a trawl of the pawn shops on saturday morning as well, and picking up a copy of the Buy Sell & Exchange when the next edition hits the shops.

interestingly enough, the cops I talked to about it were of the opinion that trademe isn't too bad for dodgy goods (although, how would they know, I suppose). If you want to see some really dodgy dealers, and you've got some goods that need to be moved 'no questions asked', they told me the pawn shop on Tory St. is the place to go.

I had to go to the cops about someone on trademe a while back and they said the opposite.
they got their man too.

It could be that trademe going through a 'clean' period. The cop I was chatting to about it said the various second-hand dealers tended to work in cycles, where a) they'd take anything from anyone, b) the cops would come in and give them a warning and get them to tidy up their act, c) the shop would comply, but only so much as to keep the cops happy, and then d) their standards would start drifting again until they were back to a).

Had to laugh last night scouring trademe for my stuff. I lost my tin during the robbery, but didn't report that particular loss to the cops. It's not likely to be mine, but this tin is the same type as the one lost (wrong city - so unlikely to be actually mine). If anyone's feeling like scoring me a late birthday present...
