There's this site which has all the basic info you need on every school in NZ - its a ministry of education site. You can search public/private/ single sex/coed etc. but unfortunately not get student opinion on what it's actually like. Wellington High School and Onslow College are the most liberal if that's what you're going for though....

There's a bit of a mixture really, cause some of them have the incredibly disgusting not quite full length skirts, and others have regular above the knee jobs that seemed to get rolled a lot at some schools

In my experience there, Onslow is a pretty choice school, at least in the senior levels. You get treated with respect by your teachers, like you're actually a human being, and you're given a lot of leeway if you deserve it. Teachers won't drag you through learning, but if you want to learn, then it's a really good place to be. The school's pretty 'liberal', a decile 9 school, and one of the best things about it is that it's so not a sports school - apparently we had a first fifteen, but they weren't Lords of anything.
When I have kids, I'm going to send them to Onslow. The idea of single sex schools freak me out.

I think that'd be the Hutt and wherever. Actually, there are lots of single sex in the Hutt too. Sacred Heart, Chilton, St Orans, HIBs, ST Pats, St Bernards, probably more I never bothered to learn about. Then there's Hutt High, Naenae, and Upper Hutt. Oh and Steiner too
