Zach Braff

Anyone know about this guy? IS he in fact the new King of Everything?

I had just sensed a lack of super finesse in Scrubs latest episodes, but then last night was solid.

Trailer rocks. Natalie in bikini. Really.

Forums: The Bar,

hey dust is he the 1 hoo plays JD on scrubs? and no i don't think its me in a bikini btw...

yip hes cool but i heard he was ...hm, ,.. gay??

omg rully? well then he is like, a talentless hack.

I don't understand what his sexual preference has to do with this forum??

I know this indy film director here in nyc who directed him in a film about 6 yrs ago. She told me that he was destined for greatness then - not only that weird 'star quality' on camera, but writer, director etcetc . He was lauded as one of the newly young greats at this year's Sundance festival for a movie he wrote and directed. Yes dustonious - it would appear he's the real deal.

Tell you what, Dust - I'll invite you to our wedding and you cna see what he's really like then okay?

hey thats wicked dusty... thanks bro.. very nice trailer indeed... thats my kinda movie... man would i love to go to sundance

Sammy, have you seen a snowboard DVD called 'Lame'? Snowboard interest is not necessary. A great sample of the new era of editing. Silky, delicate, timing, deft.

.. wicked - thats sounds like my cup of tea... i've been trying to perfect my silkyness of late.. but i have still got too much sledge hammer in me..

have you seen 'volcano high' . very interesting editing... very unique, as they had to learn everything from scratch... i like it

Can someone please explain Braff's trailer to me..... goddamn I hate dialup.

joyous
spine tingling
overwhelming
sublime
touching

Teina that just makes it more painful... I'm dying here people

You've got to acknowledge that he's done some good acting work in Scrubs. He brings some X to the role thats made the show a hit.

OK so thats not that stunning, but then you see he's writing and directing this sort of film first off the bat. Pretty impressive creative talents in one young guy.

The cast of Scrubs is getting pretty near close to perfect - I guess it's partly the writers being able to utilise the cast talents, but..... it's just so easy to worship all the actors on that show. I was never a big fan of Friends but now its unbearably shit comparatively. John McGinley is one of the best character actors EVER.

And Sarah Chalke is hot x 3.

Apparently this trailer is set to become a cult classic.

People have become addicted to it. The movie is sure to be a let down...

Did I mention Natalie?

no kidding, I just had to watch that trailer 5 fucking times in a row. Can the movie be like that but longer please, thankyou.

The song tastes like Strawpeople.

Stupid XP stupid office stupid computer without quicktime stupid no access rights. What the hell is the point in having high speed internet access if I can't do anything with it? I can't even read some parts of salon.com thanks to the bloody net nanny.

"netnanny", what a demeaning word.

or words I should say...

Especially demeaning when you're supposed to be working for an indie-media type outfit. Stupid higher powers that be.

this trailer....

i want to hang it on my wall, lock it in a safe, give it to those i love, keep it with me in a locket, ...

i'm hopelessly and completely addicted to it.

stoked. imogen heap getting some good mainstream exposure.

averaging 4.9 on IMDB. maybe not so flash. trailer looks great tho.

There's some debate about that.

i have this feeling that 50% of the reason this trailer is so damm good is the slow motion - and the music track.... not to say the movie wount be the best ever for all i know... just an observation

and yes i have watched it an unhealthy amount of times

Speaking of that Sammy, do you or anyone else have much experience with slowing DV footage down? I've been limited to FCP and AE dabbles with pretty juttery results. Tried a number of plugins but nothing really gets the quality I'm after. I noticed Eds been doing some slomo bits in Autozamm (or similar era) video. Any tips?

ah - yes, ed is a slow mo hoe... i forget what plugin he uses... it was quite pricey i think.. a really good one is retimer.. which is an ae plug made by digital anarchy..

yeah ae gives pretty limited results.. if you want to slow something down 50% or so .. then i would recommend .. first - slow it down to 75 percentish (with frame blending on).. then render that out and import it back into ya project.. then slow that piece down again about 75% again (with frame blend.).. this two pass method should give you better results...

but if you got some coin get retimer... you can slow stuff down to 10% .. and its still rock solid... have you seen the new autozamm vid?.. finished yesterday.. www.underbelly.co.nz - lotsa ultra slow mo moments .. very fun vid

that 'zamm video's great.

sam, do you know how he synchs the vocals when they're recording?

Damn I remember ReTimer used to be about 3k USA not that long ago. The new pricing is much better.

Cheers you.

ah yeap - but those are trade secrets.. im sure ed would explain it to ya... but don't want the fakers to get hold of the wild kids secret recipes.. not talking about you guys of course...

you should drop past my work sometime for a beer and i can show you some cool stuff. (dust, this serves as a reminder to you too).. as it turns out - i might be making a video for the inkling shortly.. did you get a copy of that live to air noizy? osaka told me he has one

//dust, this serves as a reminder to you too

yeah been feeling the guilt.

i admit it - slo-mo is my flavour of the moment - but i still try and mix a few other challenges in there and not just rely on a plug-in to save lame footage ;) colour grading helps too (ar ar)

there's other slow motion plug-ins as good as retimer (although i'm sure retimer's come a long way since 1999 when i dabbled in it on 'nice dqay 4 an EQ' =) - i've hunted down and tested most (yay internet + demo + work-arounds) - and paid cold hard cash for the one i prefer...

if anyone has some footage they wanna slow down - i could be bribed and cajoled into giving it a once-over ;) trade favours secret handshakes if you know what i meet

Just had to say, recalling this topic - fucking great Scrubs episode tonight. I don't think I've had such a fulfilling 30 TV minutes ever.

I'm really bummed I didn't tape the last episode with Brendan Fraser which went all Fight Club at the end.

Loving the first series of Scrubs at the moment. I've never seen it before - JD's quote on the first episode 'Your ass looks like two Pringles hugging...' had me on the floor.

Tonight! Tonight's the night!!! I finally get to see Garden State!!

GARDEN STATE!!! wooo!

Oi, remember he's MY future husband Heather, not yours. Don't make me post on crapshag about you.

You can have him. I just wanna see a movie..

WhatEVA HeathA

Hey, did we ever have the "fuck this guy is overrated and that movie turned out to be the biggest disappointment of last year" follow up thread?

NO! Because that's just not true.

You are off the guest list for my wedding, Jet.

Oops. ;) Even after my great dream thread? :)

I guess I never heard what anyone on here thought, is all. Did everyone else like the movie? I know when I went there was a bit of tittering at various "serious" bits, and lots of grumbling and "waste of money" type comments from others in the audience as they were leaving.

I think I would've thought it was OK if I hadn't had it all hyped up for me.

I really enjoyed the movie, the only thing that kind of irked was that Zach Braff's character tended toward stilted self-improvement monologues. Other than that it was just lovely, I loved how all the really bizarre random bits in the trailer actually made perfect sense in the movie.

Well I guess it's probably better to have people at your wedding who didn't love your husband's movie rather than people who want to shag him, so maybe you're forgiven.

For me, the movie really really captured the feeling - or lack of - that comes along with antidepressants, so I felt like I could relate to it. Also, I've had some random suburban adventures, and I crave more sometimes, and I want to meet someone who could change my life like that (or I could change theirs), so that aspect of Garden State was aspirational for me. Plus I've had a big arguement with my friend about the ending, cos he really didn't like it, but to me it was more realistic that way, because you don't do the clever smart thing when you're in love.

K, thanks for your comments.

Not sure how to write that in a way that doesn't sound like "yeah, thanks for playing", but I am sincerely interested. :)

Hey, Joanna, did you hear: Garden State is being released in mid July. Not long now.

I did thanks Myskin - well, I went and investigated it today actually based on this thread, and other people saying they've seen it recently and all. It's still like a month away though, waaah.
