Obviously its all about image-I'd say they're going for that whole "We're cool because we're a multi-sex group,but its ok,the girl doesn't sing or do anything too extravagant" look,think Smashing Pumpkins/Zwan/A Perfect Circle. I'm quite a fan of that scene really,Iknow I should be all "power to the sisterhood" but I'm not the biggest fan of female lead singers,they don't exactly float my boat. But wait,where are all the girls scrambling for the position?! I guess its time to consider taking up the Bass...give me a couple of months+I'm there!
