You Freak Me

Take a look at this picture through the link. For some reason, it scares me senseless somewhere deep down inside my soul. There's obviously no reason for it doing so, but whenever I look at it for too long, I get a sense of foreboding and start to freak the fuck out, so to speak.

Anyone else have irrational fears? Not the 'I'm scared of spiders that aren't even venemous' sort of thang, but seemingly innocuous sights, sounds or even smells that set you off.

Looking at that photo does make me feel a little queasy.

i dont really understand why this picture is so freaky..

That's the point - why is it that certain things just seem to set alarm bells off? If you had seen it without me saying it was freaky, would anyone else have found it so? I like contemplating pack mentality...

I don't know whether or not it would have had a lesser effect if you hadn't said anything about it being 'scary', jimi, but it does give me that ill-at-ease, pit-of-the-stomach feeling of 'that's not right...'
I think it's the size/place of shadow...the perspective's all wrong.

Yeah, I think it's pack mentality for the rest of yous. I still don't see how it's freaky.

I feel uneasy about things like dams, power stations etc. So much extreme raw power stuck behind a comparitively flimsy structure? I don't know. I don't like standing on dams when the gates are open & the water is slamming down. Creepy.

Megaccino, you control an army of breakdancing spiders, I'm more scared of you than I am of a large-scale dam.

That gives me an idea... for the ultimate weapon... it has to do with combining dams & plastic spiders.

G - still trying to work out why myself. I've narrowed it down to the trees in the background looking windswept and ominous, the fact that I can't quite see the guy's face but I'm sure he's screaming, and the colour.

I think what gets me is the abnormal lighting in the image. It appears as if there is a beam a light streaming right down from above the plane - its really unnatural...considering the rest of the image is darkish.
A couple of weeks ago I was doing research for my photography assignment and I found this photo by Pierrot Men - it freaks me out big time, there is SO much emotion in this image, I love how thought-provoking it is because it had so much meaning and its really up to the viewer how you see the image and what you take it to mean.

That is one cool photo, Jenni.

you have a natural and reasonable fear of being analy invaded by the shadow of a plane. Come to think about it planes are so gay, phallic shape,"cruising" altitude. In fact in the light of "Cruising altitude"-Man-Pickup takes on another meaning. It sounds more like something off gloryhole.com, than memoryhole.

yea man... freaky shit

The more i look at it the more i think the plane is going to crash...
mind you, that might be because of the seeing double, rather than the actual picture...

yeah man ... im with ya... also cant explain why... the perspective is very srewy.. and the size ratios dont help.. mayb it is the brooding trees... or the placid guy awaiting 'retrieval'

this one gave me a headache after I looked at it for too long...

also, not a brain-twister, but more along the lines of the original 'disturbing' thread...

i almost burst into tears

mmm photoshop cloning is sooo much fun. i did something like that with a rhino's head. mua ua ua.

I rented out Punchdrunk Love, and I couldn't watch more than halfway through because the whitewashed (is it San Pedro Valley) factories and the desolateness or something, I'm not entirely sure what exactly it was, but it terrified me. I turned the tv off and couldn't sleep all night.

some cartoons make me feel really sick. like the flintstones, i can't stand watching it because i just get a really sore stomach and feel like vomiting.
