Yes, The Supremes and the Temptations, Deep Purple, Neil Diamond, Harry Nilson and Erasure have all done covers of this song. But just to set the record straight. Tina Turner recorded the original in 1966, produced by Phil Spector, and written by Jeff Barrie, Ellie Greenwich and Spector. The orignal single cost $22,000 to record. It took so many takes to record that Tina was covered in sweat and stripped down to her bra and pants to record the finished version. This version bombed in the states but had more success in the UK. Nickolas Ashford/Valerie Simpson produced the Supremes cover.
