It's been on my top five since day one.

Yeah, just that particular post triggered something. Bit scary when I'm paying more attention to lcajmo than anyone else..

I'm exactly the same - have been trying to remember what the T-Bag show was called, and people would think I was crazy when trying to explain the show to them!

Misfits of Science, Sledgehammer (Trust me i know what Im doing) Great times in front of yhe box.

Can anybody remember StreetHawk...Im sure it had Michael Dudikoff, in it, kinda like a Knight Rider ripoff but it was a bike instead of dirty talkin, car

Yeah, I do.

Misfits of Science is the first show I remember thinking about how the show was made... realising their budget must've been drying up when after the first few episodes they started using their powers less and less. :)

It was also the first time I thought about actors in different shows, because Courtney Cox had been on Family Ties or something else... then I was amazed again when she showed up another few years down the track on Friends.

Re: Sledgehammer I will never, ever forget the line where he has to go undercover in a hair salon and finally can't take it and lays into everyone: "I'M A NIHILIST, NOT A STYLIST!"

Those Misfits were pretty cool for angry cyberpunk chicks......

Im talkin bout Jem and the Holograns by the way...i fucked up the reply....

we had this discussion in 7th form business studies - our teacdher brought up synergy then this chick in my class started singling "Jem, Jem is my name..." then we discussed Jem and the Holograms for the next 10 Minutes, man dat was funny as.

O.k. the names might be off a little but it was 20+ years ago...

"Smuggler" or something of that ilk, it began with him sailing a small boat in choppy seas, wearing the coolest trench/great coat, and he lived in a little shack on the edge of a cliff over looking the ocean. Lots of sword fights/secret passages/dodgy deals/flintlocks and stuff.

"Secret Valley" an Aussie show about these kids who had the coolest toys, Horses, Motorbikes, Microlites and such plus this totally sweet fort and a vast array of non lethal weapons that fired everything from paint to fruit. They were always "at war" with the bad kids one of whom was named Spider.

"The Lost Island" your basic people go out sailing, a storm blows up, they're pushed off course and wind up stranded on an island, which is home to a group of folk who are living in the last century.

there are a couple others but I'll have to give it some thought.

How can you call a horse a toy?

Toys = shit that's cool, thats how.

Smuggler was choice-as, and then its sequel (or maybe it just had a similar looking guy?) was set in NZ. Yeah.

Smuggler, Lost Island, i can remember them clearly. But Secret Valley doesnt ring a bell...what year/s did it show???

Not a sausage, man. It was a fair few brain cells ago, eh, but I'd say right around 82/3.

Oh once there was a wealthy man
Who had a great idea
To bring children from all places
With all kinds of faces
Together on a sailing ship
To sail the seven seas
.....
.....
But hiding in the bushes
Were a watchful pair of eyes
And living in the valley
Were people lost in time
Ruled over by a tyrant
Whose face was in a mask
The children must defeat him
So they can escape at last
From the Lost Islands
The Lost Iiiiiiiislands

(oh my stars my memory scares me sometimes. If only I could use my powers for good and not evil)

Holy shit, it scares me, nice work Jo.

tyrant, whose face was in a mask ... aaargh! i still remember that damned tune. it's was always taking up that critical space i needed when i was trying to remember where i put my keys.

actually that's kinda funny, if you think of it in a Robert Winston 'Brain' documentary kinda way. trying to remember where keys are - sudden explosion of 'Lost Island' theme tune. sounds like a Farrelly Brothers film to me.

that how it doesn't go!

it goes like this....(and this is from my pathalogical obsession with this tune since childhood not google)

There once there was a wealthy man
who had a wondertful idea
To bring children from all places
with all kinds of faces
Together into a sailing ship
There were 40 boys and girls
They'd sail the ship around the globe
so they called it...

The United World

The ship was just 2 weeks from shore
When a hurricane bore down
The waves were as big as mountains
they thought they would surely drown
The children fought the storm all night
and finally fell asleep
In the morning when the woke
they found they'd been blown across the reef
into the

loooooo-ooost iiiiiis-laaaands

But hiding in the bushes
Were a watchful pair of eyes
And living in the valley
Were people lost in time
Ruled over by a tyrant
Whose face was in a mask
The children must defeat him
So they can escape at last
From the Lost Islands
The Lost Iiiiiiiislands

82/83 i was far too young to remember what was on TV all i can remember from then was being taken to hospital to see my newborn sister.

I thought the theme song had the kids' names in it?

I can hear a fruity guy singing "Tony Mark and David, Anna and Soo-lin" or something like that... was that another show?

Hey can anybody remeber Galloping Galaxies.Fuck that was gay.

Then there was that New Zealand Space Pirates programme made with puppets. What the fuck was that called?

didn't that have something to do with Dave Dobbyn or am I making shit up again?

Dave Dobbyn wrote the theme tune "Space Junk", the show was called Space Knights.

Galloping Galaxies was great!

space knights was cool

anyone remember those 'kidult' 6-part shows on Sunday evenings some 15-20 years back??

- The Fire Raiser
- Steelriders
- Terry Teo
- Strangers

also away from kidult programs i used to enjoy Family Ties, surprisingly i watch the weekday re-runs on TV 1, Ahh such memories.

Oh-mi-god YES! I had tor ead the books of the series when iwa s teazcher aiding a few years ago ... man, stuff form our day, still being used by kid's ttoday ... but o course they had NO idea how cooool it was on tv!
lol :op

Arh ha ha ha . . . Terry Teo . . . I wonder what ever happened to him? also what about Supergran.

Yeah, steel riders....the bad motorcyclist (who was bald from what i remember, and a close friend to the kids, which made the final discovery that more surprising. Then Farmers had a huge speil on the show and started selling the bikes.
Love to do a "Where are they now?" doco on those Steeeeeelriders.

theyre probably all collecting the dole every tuesday morning and begging there case mngers for new jobs.....hahah....j/k, j/k

seriously i have no idea what the cast are doing now, but it would be cool if they where on a "where are they now" show.

just sit right back and you'll hear a tale
a tale of a fateful trip
that started on this tropic morn
aboard this tiny ship
the mate was a mighty sailing man.... etc

my favourite show growing up.

what show was that??

was it gillagins island? i dont even know if that how u spell it :S

yeah... gilligan's island

What about the show of Under The Mountain?

Go Maurice Gee. :)

I'm not sure if I ever saw it but loved the book. Incidentally it relates to the whole memory thing cleanie is talking about above - weird links between objects/concepts. Whenever I think of Under the Mountain I always start singing FNM's 'Easy' incessantly. I have no idea why.... doesn't really gel with the dark tone of the book either. Does anyone know why I have this strange link?

I like The Halfmen of O series better though.

Also, Jimi, the reason you make that association is simple: you've been smoking crack again!

I'm sure there's a slightly more scientific/parentally acceptable explanation for all of this.

Beakmans World :)

oh i remember that! that was awesome :)

my third form science teacher was actually a lot like that guy....except he also made little roleplaying game models in his lunch hour. . . .

I have to say...... playschool was sooooooo cool! that was my fav, theres no room for anyothers, coz playschool takes up alllllll 5 slots! oh gosh does anyone remember snorks?

Playschool was a timeless favorite of mine. I used to love Rawiri and Jackie.

The snorks - yeeup they take me back a couple of decades.
