1. Drop Dead Fred
2. The Carebears Movie
3. Dirty Dancing
4. Edward Scissorhands
5. Home Alone
These are in no particular order but heres some explanations
Drop Dead Fred, this one encouraged my imagination heaps and was so funny, my Mum said I have always had an overactive imagination and this just made it worse to this day I still have a fantasy world
The Carebears Movie, sentimental value really I was young naïve and innocent my gran took me to see this at the old movie theatre that was in the octagon before Hoyts 6 came along. I cried in this.
Dirty Dancing, I think all 80s girls loved this movie we all wanted to be Jennifer Gray and dance with our own Patrick Swayze, I guess it?s the ultimate chick flick for me I cant watch it enough.
Edward Scissorhands, great movie Johnny Depp is amazing in this one, good Tim Burton film just made my fantasy world that much bigger.
Home Alone, I admit in my younger days had a huge thing for Macaulay Culkin think most girls my age did, always wanted to be left home alone when I was younger to see what adventures I could cause, even hid before a family holiday once after seeing this movie hoping they would forget me unfortunately this never came true
hmm. i always thought he was kinda sexy in this film, in a kinda charismatic-slightly-scary-enigmatic-way. but then again, his tight black pants repelled me. (sorry to destroy any good memories of this great film)
1. H.R. Puffinstuff
Scared the shit outta me as a kid. As I grew I forgot all about this movie, until one christmas day... Witchy-Poo appeared on the family TV once more...
2. Labyrinth
Just ace. Such adventure, such shiny things (sparkley!), such a soundtrack. The first piece of music I ever bought was The Labrynth soundtrack on cassette tape (and I recently located it at Mummy and Daddy's! Yay.)
3. The Flight Of The Navigator
Flying, spaceships, cute little wormy things, getting back at the bullies. Delightful.
4. D.A.R.Y.L.
A cute robot kid with an ace name, who got to fly a jet plane. Really spoke to me.
5. The Neverending Story
I will never forget the sorrow of losing Artax in the swamp of despair... nor the joy of his return at the end... such adventure and grandiose music... and getting back at the bullies. What ever happened to those kids who starred in this film?
1. Ghost Busters
2. Police Academy movies (can only stand the 1st one nowadays)
3. The Bugs Bunny-Road Runner Movie
4. The Great Muppet Caper
5. Snoopy, Come Home
None of my friends remember Drop Dead Fred and I can't get it out on video anywhere that I've looked. Anyone seen it anywhere in a Wellington video shop? I love that movie
According to their website good old Aro Video on Aro St has it.
If the website's out of date (which I doubt) I'd try Amalgamated in Kilbirnie, they always had an amazing selection of older stock. They had old Jim Jarmusch movies before Aro Vid.
me is 1. Raiders of the Lost Ark
2. Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back
3. Charlie & the Chocolate Factory
4. Close Encounters of the Third Kind
5. Alien
a few of these were quite challenging and scary when i was little, but still i loved them. #5 especially - i seem to be of a generation who were all (ALL) up one night with their Dads when it was shown on tv for the first time - every one of us saw it, loved it, appreciated it, but was absolutely shit-scared at the time.
that and Empire Strikes Back - death, tragedy, mushed in with idealism and a hero's quest - all seems to affect my friends and people of my age. cool.
