changes changes

hola NZmusic dot commers
i am about to come back to NZ for the 1st time in 4 years, and what i want to know is what has changed culturally over the last wee while? i will be there (here?) for 3 and half months and cannot wait!

when i left Labour had just been voted in.

as far as i can make out from here is:
1: everyone is getting wasted on meth amphetamine, even the cops
2: the PM is a terrible artist
3: LOTR was quite good
4: the world cup was a disaster
5: the music scene has exploded (yay the quota! fuck i am glad i signed that thing)

just get me up to speed please.
ta.

Forums: The Bar,

- The quota is voluntary
- Everyone's secret redneck racism has a new face now in the form of Don Brash
- There was some rain
- Shihad are called Pacifier now

That's about it, I think. Oh! Shortland Street is now a public hospital rather than a private clinic.

maybe its racism to give preferential treatment? its a hot topic in new zealand at the moment, my feelings are it will blow over.

new zealand cricket is doing well at the moment, good managment.
had a lot of rain, flooding in lower north island

spot on Chronic - preferntial treatment is in itself racism, if we gave whites more preference over Maori then we'd be condenmed as an "Apartheid" or "Rouge state" much like south africa was. but vice versa its ok. I dont want to get into the race debate (as ive mentioned im part Maori myself) but New Zealand Belongs to All Who Live In It - Maori, Pakeha, Pacific Islander, Chinese, Indian, Jewish and Misc. Even Nelson Mandela pointed out that "Nobody is more equal over anybody else".

That really was a good book.

well here are all the Changes in the last 4 and ah bit years ive noticed.

- The WTC is gone
- Bush has turned America into a Dictatorship.
- There are too many Slags/Shore Girls and Jocks around
- We no longer have and air defence capibility
- We spend more and more on PC scams than Defence, Education, Health
- Don Brash, surley i agree with his "Unity" Policy however he should have put more
thought into how he is going to do it. (for the record im 1/16th Maori Myself)

on a plus side

- NZs music industry which was under National a hollow shell has exploded into an international market.
- The Greenies are in Parliament, at least its a start for cannabis law reform.

how much does a beer / latte / newspaper / chocolate biscuits / eggs benedict cost?
are bars "cool" or "hot"?
have people in Wellington gotten over themselves or is still a paranoid cool chain?

beer: probably around $5-$6 for a bottle in a standard bar / lattes are up to $3.50 or $4 a bowl / The Herald is $1.20 or $2.50 on Saturdays and I think the Dom Post is the same (oh yeah, The Dominion and The Evening Post have combinded into one morning paper, asssuck) / Kaluha Slice (oh so good) chocolate biscuits are $2.67 right now in Woolworths (which has combinded with Foodtown although they're still seperate stores) / eggs are still gross, but I'd estimate $10 - $12.50 at a reasonable place.

Beer - in some places u pay $4.30 a handle, yet Jugs are a mere $6 (more value)
Lattes - $3.50ish
Newspapers - they charge u $1 on the weekday, $1.50 weekends.
Biscuits - $2.30ish.

Have you ever had a late Sam? I'm sorry but I just can't picture it. ;)
