OT kinda, but, what stuff of his do you like the most christianity?

i rooly rooly like viva last blues.

'You Only Disappear' - Tom McCrae.

Actually, pretty much everything by him. He is lovely.

oh yes, lovely he is. his self titled album should have come with a free razor blade.

To cut her hair with?

Also, I'm so pleased someone else knows who he is. I got to do a phoner with him last year, and no one understood my joy or why that's the only tape I didn't dub another interview on top of.

cut her hair... hohoho.

my god, you lucky little thing - what's he like? self obsessed & depressed, top notch guy, or stradling super cool & self pity?

I pretty much swooned my way through the whole interview (talented guy with a british accent, anyone?). He's absolutely lovely, not depressed to talk to, he's super grateful for every oppotunity he's got, and he's also hilarious. If my old work hadn't stupidly pulled down their good database I had built for them (I'm sure they did it out of spite) I'd throw you a link to the piece I wrote. But I can't, so oh well.

Tracey Chapman has some top quality sad hits

here a list of some classic (and not so classic) tearjerkers

- Tell Laura I Love Her (The Creation, i dunno who sang the original to it tho)
- Leader of the Pack (???)
- Solitude (Black Sabbath)
- Changes (Black Sabbath minus kelly osbourne who killed her fathers classic sabbath song)
- Near a my god shall thee??? (The hynm they sang just befor ethe titanic slipped beaneath the waves, they also played it at me mums funeral)
- Amazing Grace (agains they played it at my mums funeral)
- Youll never walk alone (Gerry and the Pacemakers)

the shangri-las

"Mad world" - Gary Jules

turin brakes 'optimist' is fuckin sad without being obviously morbid - I love the sort of music that makes you cry with a smile on your face.

You should have this one but - Love Song by The Cure.

If you're into shoe-gazering wrist-slashering emo sad, try Bright Eyes.

You're going to get a cd full'o sad songs in the mail any day now Dr G. Please lock up the razorblades.

Well, if I post somewhere saying "WOO! I got Joanna's Sad Song CD today!" and then disappear never to be seen on internet forums ever again...you know what's happened. Cyber hugs and all that. I love you all.

I sent a happy one too, so they can fight it out. Play one into each ear and see if that makes your head explode. Maybe you need velocity to make you a hat to keep it all together.

My hat order's been in for a while now but she hasn't even started making it. I'll try to two-songs-at-once thing, my head imploded when I tried to pick the 5 best nz songs ever on my profile Top5s...hopefully having my head explode will balance things up again.

Beck's latest album Sea Change has a few on it. Heartbreaker by Ryan Adams is also a goodie. The Smiths. M. Ward - Transfiguration of Vincent is a good one, but I dunno whether I'd classify it as sad or beautiful. Wilco - Yankee Hotel Foxtrot's a good one to listen to if you are feeling sad.

Hope those help?

Seven Spanish Angels - Willie Nelson and Ray Charles

Reckless - Australian Crawl
Lonesome Tonight - Elvis Prelsey

Love reckless its a great song

Last Kiss - Pearl Jam, orginaly done by a country female singer, I don't know her name

Last Kiss - J. Frank Wilson and the Cavaliers 1964

Nancy Sinatra - Bang, Bang (from the Kill Bill part 1 soundtrack)

Tom Waits, the Train Song

Nick Cave has quite a few scattered throughout his career as well, The Boatman's Call would be the album with the highest concentration of them.

Chicane: Offshore (the remix from the filter compilation)
Tracey: Mogwai (Kid Loco remix, on a Kid Loco remix album with "jesus" in the title)
Love and Fear the Most: Kevin Edge. He's my mate. if you really want it i can send you a CD.

JPSE - inside and out.

there's a sad one

let me finish--- i was gonna say- jpse did grey parade- never liked sjfs vers of marianne much- actually- never liked sjf much- tho thay had at least 1 good song on every release- ¿did i ever mention that ive emet the cellist who played on she speeds?- see--- i know everyone whos anyone

virtually anything by the , but particularly...

* Grace Cathedral Park
* Katy's Song

...from their self-titled album.

katy's song makes me cry...

a final sleep no
words from my cutting
mouth to your ear or
taut wicked pinches
from my fingers to your bitter face
that i can't heal
i know tomorrow
you will be
somewhere in london
living with someone
you've got some kind of family
there to turn to
and that's more than i could ever give you

a chance for calm
a hope for freedom
outlet from my cold solitary kingdom
by the forest of our spring stay
where you walked away
and left a bleeding part of me
empty and bothered
watching the water
quiet in the corner
numb and falling through
without you what does my life amount to?

by the Red House Painters, that is.
(did a cut, instead of a copy, didn't I.)

song samples here...
