Hi NZM,
Well, we made it- living in London just up the road from Marylebone station. It's pretty cold, but not as bad as I thought- anyway i have no time left at this internet cafe so it's just a quick wassup for now, I'll give you the lowdown when I can!

Found some temping work with a place ...
Found some temping work with a place called The Kiwi Agency- the pay is pretty good, but having income at all is worth a celebratory. The work varies from mundane to frustrating, but hey I no complain.... now that income is sorted I need to work out what my ongoings are going to cost. The phone bill only comes quarterly so it's going to be difficult to budget, and the gas/power/water(?!) bills haven't arrived as yet. You don't really know your financial standing untill you can see what your outgoings are - for the record, I'm earning between £9 - £10 per hour, with about 35 hrs per week.
Hasn't stopped us from spending though- we bought a couple of tickets to Phantom of The Opera at Her Majesty's Theatre in the west end. It was fuckin fantastic. I am a total opera convert. But our seats... damn. We have discovered consequently (like a lot of things...) that we paid 3 times too much for them, and they were in the far left back corner of the theatre on the top floor. The worst seats in the house. But the show still rocked. And I saw Trans Am play at a bar called The Spitz, and it's really strange but they made me feel less 'alien' here- even though they're from Washington, the feeling for me was like watching a New Zealand band play. I see on the gig guides that Golden Horse have had a few gigs around London as well- haven't heard any airplay here, but good to see some Kiwi musos making the voyage over.
Music gear is plentiful in Soho, there are about 7 or 8 guitar shops in Denmark Street, with still more in and around the neighbourhood. Spent a little longer than I should drooling over a nice sunburst Rickenbacker 620 in the window... one day...
Out of time, must go, ka kite ano...

Went to Wales for the Easter Break- ...
Went to Wales for the Easter Break- driving around in a rental car from camp ground to camp ground with a 3 man tent. Wales is awesome- the people are so friendly, the landscape is rugged and exposed- a lot like New Zealand in places, actually- except there's probably more castles and stone circles in Wales than any other part of England. The history of the place is amazing. NZ is such a young country, it's quite easy to take it for granted that there are places that have existed for thousands of years before NZ was even discovered by anyone.
Cardiff is Wales' capital, and it's got a bloody big castle right in the middle of it. The foundations of it were built by the Romans shortly after they invaded England in AD 40. Another town in the north of Wales called Carnaevon (Sp?) has a very large castle that the townsfolk have built on, around, underneath and through- it's literally intertwined throughout the whole town- ramparts and turrets poking out in between restaurants and bars, and a tunnel for the main road burrowed underneath, it's incredible! Oh, and the Welsh are even more fanatical about Rugby than us kiwis are- tourist shops are filled with rugby parafenalia, including charicatures of Welsh rugby heroes fending off All Blacks... couldn't help but crack a smile at that!
Last weekend we checked out the Camden Markets- think Cuba Street Carnival, except bigger, better and on every weekend. Absolutely amazing, and it's just up the road.
Anyway, we're planning to go to Paris (!!!) on the weekend of May the 1st (May-day), so I'll give you another update around then.
Peace,
Foetusboy

Cheers- yes it's a blast alright, never thought I'd be enjoying myself here, but I really am. In the beginning when I was searching for work it was hell, but nowadays it's sweet. And it's been sunny for the last four days (!)
Anzac Day service yesterday at ...
Anzac Day service yesterday at Westminster Abbey, it was packed. Brilliant, moving service, the organ, choir, trumpets etc gave me goosebumps- the traditional choir was followed by a Maori cultural group singing Whakaaria Mai, and the contrasts in harmonies and phrasing was hauntingly beautiful. And the solo trumpet of The Last Post resounded through every corner of the abbey, almost like the walls were quietly singing along...
Long service though- a good couple of hours. I was hoping we'd explore the rest of the Abbey after the service, but everyone was too hot/tired/hungover/cramped/thirsty/hungry/in need of a toilet for us too stick around, which was a real shame.
