congratulations to all the folk out there in miramar (and rongotai) for all their hard work... i've got a few friends who i have no doubt will be feeling a bit hung over from celebrations this morning

Yeah, my mother's best friend made a lot of the pottery in the movie, and she helped him out - it's like everyone in wellington is one degree away from the movie, and maybe that's why it's so special to so many people.

i liked the one where the dude was playing the bicycle

so good when Steven Spielberg got all excited and said 'Clean Sweep!'. he was following the count. that makes me smile ... means film geeks will now be able to be recognised by the mainstream funders when it comes to fantasy and sci fi. and there are a lot of great books of those two genres out there that deserve to be rendered on the big screen.

thought Lucas was slowing banging the nail into the coffin of sci fi and fantasy, but thanks to Weta/3ft6 and the Wingnutters, it's been proved that you can make a good effects-heavy film and it looks good and realistic and not overblown and flat. (though, of course, i'm still gonna go to Episode III, dammit)
