Does anyone watch Spooks? It keeps getting all these brilliant reviews and apparently it's oh so cutting edge, but it really just seems like Mission Impossible in 2003 to me. Although having Giles on it and swearing was great.
yup I do, I see no //s with mission impossible at all, wee hints of the professionals but thats only to be expected seeing they are both set in MI5.
loved tonight seeing sweet Huge Lorie(sp) playing a prick, and so sounds of home hearing Antia McNaught doing the news... just like when I catch her on the bbc news..
anyone watching the cold case thing??? I haven't seen it yet, can not, not watch the last session of friends and miss scrubs ..... anyway how similar is it to the canadian one?
From the top of my head..even though they may not be considered t.v shows but oh well...
1-CSI
2-21 Jump Street
3-Face the Music (with Simon Barnett)
4-Fraggle Rock
5-Play School
Face The Music was fucking legendary, hey i wonder what that Duane Franks dude is up to know?? doesnt Simon still host the More FM Breakfast show down in Christchurch??
I never remember to watch the new CSI. I've only seen one of this series. It's on at the same time as Raw. Won't somebody please think of the children?! I guess I just love HBK more than Gil Grissom.
I watched CSI tonight, but I don't think I will next week. I've been getting this feeling for a while (in fact I think I started giving it a miss last series). I can't entirely put my finger on it, but it just doesn't seem to be evolving somehow. Their starting to go for weird plots, and seem to have stopped developing the characters....
I don't know. Blah blah blah. But I'm kind of sad that it's gone downhill. Grissom used to be my new favourite geek. Now i prefer stuttering Criminal Intent guy.
Some of my favotite brit shows would be:
Minder
Auf Wiedersehen Pet
Last of the summer wine
The Professionals (I miss this show)
Ello ello
Only fools and horses
Black adder, The young ones, Filthy Rich and Catflap, Bottom and Red dwarf etc etc.
Fatuman Says.
It appears to me that the best shows of all time are often American but have been adapted from an English or European structure or often just directly copied. Not a TV programme to start with but a perfect example is Nakita. Don't get me wrong I liked all of them to a greater or lesser extent and was perhaps Boody Blinded in all three.
However the French orignal was the best for 2 reasons 1: Euro English influenced filming is more real in its integrity and optical appearance. 2:They did not copy it.
I think if you looked hard enough you will find non American involvement in most American success.
