just sat down this morning & watched lucys tape- the running order was- meterman then jakob then damo- with meterman as backing band- anyway- heres the review
meterman- only watched part of the 1st song- they were crap- + ¿what were they thinking playing as meterman on the night- as well as playing with damo?- what absolute turkeys
jakob- only watched part of the 1st number- they were crap
damo- gee wizz the drummer is technically proficient- golly but his fills & rolls were well executed- gosh but he needed to be severely micstanded- ¿what was he told about the gig?- ¿was he told- meterman is gonna jam- & this old japanese guy is gonna turn up to sing- & we want you to totally dominate whats happening- we want fills & accents & paradiddles & rolls & all that fancy stuff?- ¿was he told- you should not exercise any restraint at all- throw the book at the audience- make them know what an accomplished muso you are- the night is yours- just go for it?
holy crap- what a total disaster- the sheer rocketpolishing of the drummer nulled & voided the rest of the bands & damos best attempts- of course- meterman didnt give me any indication in their own performance- ¿what were they thinking?- the absolute turkeys0- that they would be up to the task
now- i like damo- & it would have been nice to see him & have a little catch up- but im glad i wasnt there for this performance- not one of his career high-water marks

i know that meterman & jacob are 'cool'- & 'critically acclaimed'- but so are dozens of crap bands thru history- it doesnt mean i think ALL bands are crap- doesnt mean all critics are crap either- my ability to call a spade a spade proves i love music
you know- voom would have been a way better option- they are the only nz band who have improvised- & done it well- & released it on cd- mind you- me with a drum machine & assorted distortion & delay pedals would have been the best- ha

actually our hit:miss ratio on our taped improvs is really good- about 9:1- like it says on our bio- weve got around 10 double albums full of just the a-grade stuff simply waiting- in boxes- of course that is with mac buzz & i- havent tried kelly on improv yet- we shoulda been there for damo- just to see what he can really do- of course macs arms woulda needed immense ammounts of twisting-`probly ripem off & hed still say no- course then he wouldna been much use on drums anyway- def leppard+1
