or not. I think it was King who also pointed out that she might have had very good reasons for not wanting to have them published, and the publishing of anything and everything by writers that had died was one of her pet peeves. might be best to respect her judgement on that one (much as it would of interest to many people - great, good or bad as they may be).
// nominated for the Nobel Prize on numerous occasions
she was a Nobel Literature short-list candidate only once (last year) as far as I can tell. She may have made the extended short list more than that (almost certainly in fact), but they don't publish that, and I expect the likes of Witi Ihimaera, Maurice Gee, Owen Marshall and (god forbid) CK Stead have also made it that far on a few occasions. I hope the committee are kicking themselves for not giving it to her.
janet frame was not just a new zealander, she was a New Zealand Icon, how many other kiwi novelists have been nominated for the Nobel Prize on numerous occasions?? She will be sadly missed, yet forever remembered, RIP Janet - you is with Tupac now, respec'
Although more seriously, Michael King was saying that she has around two fairly full manuscripts and a couple of hundred poems.... and as he said, some decision will have to be made about what to do with them. Could potentially be very cool.
she once wrote that memory does not function teleologically, in a line, but rather like sheets of glass laid upon each other, allowing us to look back through history and make our own connections.
I would just like to thank her for that beautiful image

I absolutely agree, but I think it would be nice if they were tucked away somewhere like the Hocken (embargoed for a while if need be).
