NZ Idol - who got through and who's still audition

Hey everyone!

I've been heaps in the nz idol chat boards and there are lots of people who are auditioning there. But there were quite a few people here who were looking at auditioning too. I've got my audition next wednesday (21st) - has anyone else got an audition, and has anyone had an audition and can answer questions?

Forums: NZ Music,

ive alraedy had my audition i think it went realy good!!!!1
i sang stay by lisa loeb they kept telling me 2 stop but their not going 2 steal my linelight!

wat r u going 2 sing?

I'm thinking of doing either Misery by Pink and Steve Tyler, or I think it's gonna rain today - by bette midler off the beaches soundtrack. So did you get through?

My audition is next Wednesday as well. still tossing up what to sing. It will be something smooth and old I am leaning towards at the mo. apparently up to 2400 people auditioning in Auckland...

Hey!

Have you been to any of hte other sites? If you get a chance, go to www.nzidol.tk. Also if you go into google and look up nz idol, you'll get sites come up and there's on that's NZ blog or soemthing - that's really quite good to - if you've got the time. :o)

I'm taking Seth along with me - you taking Erin? Or just you?

Yes. My endless support will be there...

We are playing at Empire on Friday and Saturday night from 10 - 2 if anyone wants to come - Esra Dekan

well i aint stopping u NZ MUSO but have you considered my advice of going it alone without gambling your career and future to a group of spoilt rich attention-hog 20-somethings with identity problems??

no offence was directed towards u nz muso - its just the way i feel about these reality TV Shows, rigeed with rich and spoilt 20-something daddys kids with identity probs. again dont take any offence about what ive said, i know ur prolly not one of these, its just the stereotype reality tv shows fit in to know what im sayin.

but again and in a more polite perspective - going it alone without gambling your future on television will get you very far indeed, look at the likes of brooke fraser, she didnt have to go on some half-baked reality Show just to make it big innit? she has natural talent (not that im a fan of her anyway) and im sure you NZM have exactly the same. know what im saying.

but if u wish to go along i wish you all the best but as ive said many-a-time and to put it in short, I STRONGLY ADVISE U GO IT ALONE. :-)

Thanks Sam. I have taken your advice into account.

There are two main reasons i'm entering this. If i win - it's purely a bonus.
1. Going to auditions has taught me about auditioning and singing in front of people. Judging people that is, not general public. People who will pick you to peices about everything. It's taught me to be more aware, and each audition i feel helps me figure out more and more. So it's in essence, a learning experience.

2. You get to meet people. At all stages. Others who are talented. That's a nice thing, finding others who are in a similar boat to you. Y'know, people who are into rugby can go to a match, but i enjoy auditions cos there's a great vibe of people who want this too. If you make it through a few rounds, you may get on well with a producer, tell them you're studying music at uni for a few years, and ask if you can contact them after you've done your course, or if they know where else you could go. It would be really nice to finnish my course, have all the songs written and done the way i like them, and be able to approach someone you've already made contact with. If they liked you enough to tell you to come see them after you'd done your course, then they'd make the time to see you i think as opposed to someone who they'd never met.

It's all about networking, and what better place to do it currently?

But thankyou, i do see where your coming from. It could be good and bad to soemone's career.

hmmm i think ive learnt some stuff from u nz_muso - Networking.

I went today to support my mate Jessie, took nearly 7 hours b4 she got her audition. She got through as we expected, but they were being really tough, a lot of ppl I heard that could actually sing, didn't make it. But then again who wants an average singer for ur nz idol? Another of my mates got thru too, but her brother didn't which was kinda sad. They filmed both of my mates quite a bit so *whoopie* I might get to be on tv (I'll be the 1 in the steriogram trucker hat). Gay thing is I gotta get up early again and go back tomorrow for her recall. Suppose it'll be ok as long as Dominic is there, he's a hotbabe and totally wants my children ;D~

Went back again today, felt sorry for ll the people that had to wait outside in the rain in the lines. Jessie had her audition at about 10 and was upstairs for an hour. Finalllllly she came down and good news was she made it into the final 60 for the country (about 30 of which will probably be from Auckland). She sang Bic Runga's "drive" (she had to choose that on the spot yday after they didnt like her first song)I asked her what the judges had said to her and they told her that she had out shone Bic Runga, they didn't say anything bad to her, which is awesome because a lot of pl were coming down from their 2nd audition and had said the judges had all been quite mean. She said she'd told the camerman guy all about me in her interview, lol. We got Dominic to have a photo with us and we talked to the edge radio after (my mate Hamish did - who didn't get thru). She's gotta go for a 3 day workshop next week starting on hte 27th, and each day the judges have to eventually wittle it down to 24, then we get to vote. Scary stuff.

Remind us who the judges are...

Paul, Fiona and Frankie.

Aka I take it that was a dig at the judges? And fair enough, but Jess doesn't take their word as law or whatever, she's had a lot of experience with judges etc like in Rockquest and all that. But when u hear her sing u'll know what they're talking about. If u live in auckland go listen to her sing classical at the SkyCity Starlight symphony int he Park on feb 14th. I hope she shows u what u want to hear :D

Paul Ellis looks like Eric Bana.

D'oh of course...... is this the jessie who got in the the finals last year.. with that stunning jazzy / bluesy voice?

Yup that's the 1. Yea her voice is incredibly versatile, u should hear her sing classical it's amazing

frankie stevens loiters at the Upper Hutt RSA every saturday afternoon - i see him there drunk as a bat.

alright nzmuso - we're dying to know.. howd the audtion go girlfriend?

She's probably still there...it takes aggggeeesssss

and it's ok if it didn't work out, you will still be NZM's pop princess, we will still love you.

Hey guys!

Thanks for the support. Nope didn't get through. But i didn't feel to down about it. There were heaps of people in my group who were good singers, and they didn't get through.

I learned:
1. Invest in a LARGE umbrella. 3 people under a broken umbrella designed for one = 3 very wet people.
2. I need to work on my performance.
3. I have actually learned from each audition i've been to - and i think i'm getting better at it. :o)
4. It is blasphemous to say "there is life after around other contestants. They tend to look at you as if you are insane.

Overall, i'm glad i didn't have to pick between that and Uni. I have uni starting in just over 4 weeks - and i'm STOAKED!!!!!!!!!!!!! :o)

Anyone else out there doing the pop music course at auckland uni this year?

as i keep saying nz_muso you can go it alone without the hassle of gambling on a half-baked reality show.

CONGRADULATIONS to my buddy...WIREMU..
Made it to the top 100 so far..
""YAY-YAY""
All the best to you, have heaps of faith & all the best to all you other contestants..
WHO'S GOING TO BE THE IDOL????

Just talked to jess, she's through the first day of the workshop, it went from 9am until 11pm! and 15 ppl were eliminated. So she's in the final 45 and starts again tomorrow at 7am.... she said there are a lot of pacific islanders and that everyone has fantastic voices, so looks like it's gonna be a good series :)

Are you in the top 24 NZ Muso? If so let us know..whats the secret..give us a clue man!

PLEASE START READING INSTEAD OF ENDLESSLY POSTING, HER POST IS ONLY 4 I REPEAT 4 ABOVE YOUR OWN.
