I was ready to have a good laugh at the expense of Ryan Adams, but after listening to that I have a newfound respect for him.
The reviewer comes away sounding like a pretentious arsehole, someone who dislikes Ryan Adams and will never give him a good review, no matter what he does.
But the best bit is when Ryan Adams mentions that he's doing a "Courtney Love call". He's aware that he's doing a complainy phone call to a critic and kind of mocks himself for making it.
Go Ryan!

In that second MP3 I posted it's a DJ reading at length from a post Ryan had made on ryanadams.org about the whole affair. Here's a link to the posts he made. If you read through, particularly the follow ups, he gives details that suggest it really is him.
Throughout he tries to play the innocent nice guy and paint Derogatis (the journalist who wrote the bad review) as a guttersnipe, but then lets off these snide little comments about how shit he is. All those crap assumptions towards the end of the phone message add up to "maybe you are a crap person, so I don't need to think about what you've said".
I certainly think Adams comes off looking pretty lame.
