6 cups of coffee a day keeps the diabetes away.

woohoo! i'm saved

Coffee cuts diabetes risk
November 8 2002

People who drink lots of coffee run a far lower risk of developing Type 2 diabetes, the disorder that has reached epidemic proportions in the industrialised world, a study says.

Individuals who drink seven or more cups of coffee a day are 50 per cent less likely to develop this form of diabetes than counterparts who drink two cups or less.

The evidence comes from a database of the health and lifestyle of 17,000 Dutch men and women, assessed by the Netherlands' National Institute for Public Health and Environment.

Forums: The Bar,

i heard all about it.

thank the lord i drink 7 per day.

That pretty much just averages things out really..i mean busy people, preoccupied, coffee stimulant relaxer..are the types that would drink coffee of course..so its just a generalisation thing.
But if it helps should I really promote yellow stained teeth..c'mon man..coffee spoils the image in the long run..teeth wise..unless you have a good serving of milk.

Hey i'm all for the milk in coffee

healthy bones, yellow teeth, no type 2 diabete's.......i think i could handle that.

in fact, i should be the most healthy person on earth coz apparently red wine prevents heart disease aswell as the coffee thing

Dude, you must be at least one type of health guru we have on the panel.
Yes please, milk for stronger bones, hair, nails even & strenghthens cartilage.
Surprise me or not with some more tips.
Red wine..well doesn't that contain a lot of sugar in it which brings back the diabetes issue..
then again..red wine helps you be happy & therefore, you have a healthier heart..am i right?

Dates apparently keep you regular

Taking it in the date sure keeps you regular.

a little too regular you'd think

Thats awesome to know. What else keeps you regular Dr Dre's??

too much coffee makes me jittery...

Red wine in moderation can be healthy as its anti-oxidants fight free radicals in the blood.
Or something.

//Red wine in moderation can be healthy

as is beer, its just as good as red wine.

I guess we have Dr Dre and Dr Ruth in the house..
Wow..what medical fanatics we have.
Why not say that anything thats bad for you is good for you!

//Red wine in moderation can be healthy
As can any red berry juice

oh and FYI
the results indicate 50% reduction in men and only 30% in females

nicotine can apparently help prevent alzheimers
chocolate is also good against something, can't remember what though. (like you need a reason)

chocolate releases the same chemicals within the brain as sex does... and you don't need cheesy pick up lines

Chocolate's usually cheaper to buy than sex too, although I'm sure a box of Lady Godiva truffles would set you back more than a couple of bottles of cheap wine.

nicotine also suppresses panic disorder.

sex burns calories while chocolate gains it...

// Red wine..well doesn't that contain a lot of sugar in it which brings back the diabetes issue..
then again..red wine helps you be happy & therefore, you have a healthier heart..am i right?

The good stuff in red wine is some stuff that comes from the skin of red grapes. It helps prevent bad cholesterol from forming and raises the good cholesterol level.

Only one glass a day is required to get this effect. Getting pissed on red wine is not needed, and infact, the negatives from doing that outweigh the positives from the wine.

But wine is full of calories with little nutritional value, so if you don't drink red wine already, starting now might end up causing weight gain which isn't good for the heart.

// nicotine also suppresses panic disorder.

Well, I suppose that's one way of looking at it.

Or you can say that nicotine withdrawal causes feelings of panic and smoking a cigarette restores the levels of nicotine and the withdrawal symptoms (including panic) subside.

Once you quite smoking and get over the addiction you get the normal, unpanicked feeling all the time. Though, if you do still get panic attacks, there's obviously a bigger problem that probably should be addressed and not masked by drugs.

Here's an article that shows why having unprotected sex, getting stressed, using mobile phones, watching a great deal of TV, listening to loud, repetitive music, smoking, riding fast motorbikes, flying economy class, eating fatty food, drinking heavily, eating salty food and becoming a boxer are all actually really, really good for you.

Course its good for you. Its called 'Got a life'.

That article is exactly what i was thinking about last night.

I'm not a scientist or anything but i reckon drinking 7 cups of coffee a day can't be good for ones heart, liver, insomnia etc.

pft, type 2 diabetes is probably the least of my worries anyway.

//I'm not a scientist or anything but i reckon drinking 7 cups of coffee a day can't be good for ones heart, liver, insomnia etc.

Yesterday I googled to find some sources of everything bad I've heard about coffee (ie, you may not get diabetes, but that's because you die of cancer first..). *Every single article* I found related to health and coffee basically said the following:
* no convincing link has been found between coffee and any form of cancer, osteoporosis, coronary heart disease, digestive problems, aggravation of anxiety disorders, insomnia or fertility problems.
* it is not classed as an addictive substance although some excessive coffee drinkers may experience withdrawal effects for up to a week when they stop drinking it.
* convincing links have been found between moderate coffee consumption (about three cups a day) and reduction of risk of colon cancer and diabetes, improvement of asthma symptoms, improvement in concentration and alertness...
* coffee is higher in antioxidants than green tea, which may potentially lead to further beneficial effects. (The role of antioxidants in slowing the aging process is still relatively new, so little research has been done as of yet)

So - wow. Cool. As usual I guess it's everything in moderation.

Including moderation?

i like cuppacino!

so, pinging off the walls with caffine is good for you?

Its all to do with the infividual & heaps of other factors..you cannot really rely on stats for what really goes on..different bodies, different effects, different benefits for all. INDIVIDUALITY..as long as your alive, I'm happy.
