T-Shirt Printing

Has anyone had any good experiences with T-shirt printers for band promo's?? Any names/numbers/websites etc you can give me to recommend would be awesome. I have my own list...but I'm sure some of you know some people!! Ta!

Forums: NZ Music,

My bassest just does it himself. Theres some special ink that's easy to use but doesn't come off in the wash. MAGIC AYE!!!! Sorta hard though if you have a large picture you want to draw. There's always yellow pages.

Yea, I have gathered info from the yellow pages, but some of the quotes I have recieved are off the wall, so I thought there would be bound to be some muso's out there who know someone who doesn't charge the earth.
I've seen that ink stuff, I spose if you reverse the typeface in photoshop it would print the right way - since if you print from paper to fabric with that stuff it obviously reverses it...Hmmmm
You gotta do something that isn't gonna fall apart after one dunk in water tho!

Oh, nah he draws it! With this pen-of-doom. I can find out what its called if you like? Go to my website and listen to our songs!

Ohhh, WOW - ok that may be over excited, but can I just say that sounds like a niiiiiiiiice pen!
yeah, let me know what it is and where to buy one, then all t's will be original and have variations...hmm, I like it. I know an awesome cartoonist so he can do stuff straight on, no probs.

What's the shirts for though? You selling them, or are they for your mates etc? You can personalise each one for your own humour now. For instance, writing in small font on the t-shirt 'I am a cock goblin'. Have fun.

I was wondering - to go along with this theme - where you can get the good plain T-shirts before the printing, i've looked into it but i can't really find anywhere in NZ to get cheap bulk T-shirts

I think the way to do it is to do it as a business. So those who are really keen could look into setting themselves up as sole traders or some such...

Yep - same question! Where do ya buy t-shirts? I have found some corporate promo branding co's but once again they charge a shitload - like $20 - I seriously reckon it's down to The Warehouse or K Mart I go...I found some good blank t's in K Mart once for $4.95.
Yeah, the t's are to be sold for a band, so you can't just biro somethin on there! :-)

I have had plenty of experience going through this guy. Always very compeitively priced and a good man to boot. You should be able to get a plain simple tee screened for no more then $10 each.

otherwise... the NZ T-shirt factory in wellington is good for fitted t's or custom made t's. They will make a t-shirt to your specifications for $12.95...be it one-off or a hundred. Good for when i did some cool chicks tank style tees.
This price doesn't include any printing or embroidery.

haha...by that, i mean the link down the bottom..."Handprints"..Martin.

I haven't used him for over a year now, but have run many different band tshirts and my own designs through him.

Cheers Low Hum. Handprints seemed the most reasonably priced when I looked into printing a few months ago. Think I'll follow it up now I've had confirmation he's good.
An idea on buying cheap, good quality T's - theres a place in Porirua called Bobby's (or billie's?), located in Cobham Court. From what I've heard, their plain T's are fairly well priced, and he can get up to 6XL in HEAPS of colours. Will check it out this weekend and get back with more info and contact details

Thanks so much for that contact Hum! :-)
I think I may have contacted them previously but I'm not sure if they got back to me...I would have remembered that price, but I have seen the website before!
I have emailed them - really appreciate the advice!

I recommend handprints too. All PO-HA tshirts are printed there. The service is fast and cheap and he's really helpful!!

well its not to do with band promos but i got my "kill the preps" T-Shirt done at kiwi t-shirts on Willis St for $40 (including the price of the T-Shirt) so i found it to be a good deal.

You paid $40 for a t-shirt? Wow, that's as much as preppies would pay for their label ts. I did my own stencils for less than $15, which is good for a one off. (not for mass band shirts of course)

the t-shirt was $25 and the printing was $15. know what im sayin?

Yeah, that's a lot in my standards. t-shirt = $10, paint = $5 (with tons left over)

Try your own stencilling next time Sam, it's incredibly easy & I'm a craft-retard.

That's fucking funny you paid $40 for a "Kill the preps" t-shirt - $25 for a plain t-shirt?! You got fucked. Don't you work in a supermarket? That's like 5 hours at your job, dude. Keep it coming, Lucifer. You're a riot.
