Pubs are R18 venues. There aren't that many all-ages venues and I wager they'd possibly require a higher booking fee than pubs, who make their money on the bar.

On top of that all-ages gigs traditionally don't pull as many punters as R18 gigs. For a lesser-known band touring outside their home town, the only real option they have to at least break even, possibly make a bit of money from the door, is to do pub gigs.

In conclusion it has nothing to do with metal_mark (or anyone under 18) being an "immature little dickhead", as implied by lcajmo. Just an unfortunate fact of life for the under-18s. Pink-tutued good fairy, etc.
